Blue Beetle is a solid, enjoyable family superhero film that can easily transition into the new DC Comics cinematic universe James Gunn will unveil with Superman: Legacy in 2025.
However, there's a prevailing question of whether the film is another Daredevil case. That is, will Gunn and Warner Bros. treat the film the same way Marvel Studios views the events of Charlie Cox's Daredevil series on Netflix?
The MCU won't necessarily go out of its way to contradict any story elements from that show, but they're also not carrying any unresolved plot threads forward into the new Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again.
Xolo Maridueña's Jaime Reyes might be facing a similar predicament.
However, whatever the future holds, director Angel Manuel Soto already knows who he wants to play Ted Kord.
As previously hinted, in the mid-credits scene for the film, a computer in the Beetle Nest reactivates, and Ted Kord's voice can be heard urging anyone who's listening to contact his daughter and let her know that he's still alive.
If a sequel happens, Soto told The Digital Fix that he wants Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis to voice the character in a sequel.
"My dream cast for Ted Kord has always been Jason Sudeikis. But at the end of the day, it’s about who’s best for the character, who loves what we’re trying to do. And who’s willing to see Jaime Reyes’ story continue."
There are several online reports that are convinced it was Sudeikis who voice Kord's urgent message but nothing has been confirmed just yet.
