Chris Evans "Almost Terrified" To Think About Saying Goodbye To CAPTAIN AMERICA Role
Now that his contract with Marvel Studios is almost up, Chris Evans has admitted to being a bit terrified despite frequently mentioning that he's ready to pursue other filmmaking endeavors beyond playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check it out!
Next year's highly-anticipated Captain America: Civil War will be the fifth (or sixth) time Chris Evans will have portrayed the shield-slinging super soldier on the big-screen. And because his six-picture deal with Marvel Studios will be fulfilled when he returns in the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, which starts shooting next year, the actor recently admitted to Entertainment Tonight that he does feel a bit frantic about saying goodbye to Captain America and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“It’s almost terrifying to think about these being done,” said Chris Evans, while promoting his directorial debut Before We Go, which he credits Marvel for the opportunity. “It always feels so good to kind of wrap and just say, ‘Alright, one more down.’ But it's also kind of like high school in a sense. You keep looking to when you're going to be done, and we're almost done now, and you're not quite ready for it to be over.” Evans then reiterated how he plans to direct after his Marvel contract is up. “I love acting and I'll always love acting,” he said. “It's my first love. But I really enjoy [directing]. I'm kind of excited to take the knowledge I acquired during this process and apply it to the next one.” In separate interview with USA Today, Chris Evans revealed that he has an untitled project he wants to finish before starting Avengers: Infinity War in October 2016.
Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.
