Captain America: Civil War was probably one of the best comic book movies to be made in a long while. The intensity between the characters worked so well with the tension being built throughout various incidents with in the movie, carefully pieced together by
the mischievous Helmut Zemo.

This is what all of the MCU films have been building up to and it has payed off well with the amount of character development given to each character within this film series.I will go in depth on the main characters within the film and how well they fit in with the overall plot of this film.

Captain America / Steve Rogers: I really felt that Chris Evans portrayal of Captain America is really one of the most convincing comic book character portrayals on screen with his very specific motives and his strong sense of morality. In this film we get to see a version of Cap that has went through experiencing Hydra's corruption of SHIELD and because of this it is clear that he doesn't know what side of the government he should pledge his allegiance to. Due to Cap's growing distrust in government authority we see him take the side of freedom against regulation.

As the plot kicks in Cap's decision becomes more about his
childhood friend Bucky who he tries to prevent from getting taken in by the authorities because he believes he is innocent.

Iron Man/ Tony Stark: Ironman has also developed into a much more thought provoking character as he is reflecting on the previous mistakes he has made as Iron Man which has also affected his relationship with Pepper Potts, but as usually Tony still has that natural instinct to act right away without any repercussions which leads to him making some of the decisions he makes with in the movie.

Iron Man is pretty much on the side of the accords due to his feeling of guilt which happens to be the same reason why he became Iron Man in the first place.

Black Panther/ T'challa: The introduction of this very intriguing warrior and king has to be one of the smartest decisions marvel has made. Black Panther is ruthless and his abilities are expressed as he comes into this war with his own agenda: seeking revenge on Bucky for having thought he killed his Father T'chaka.

Boseman's uncanny portrayal of this Wakandan king was very captivating as his presence on screen was very grand as he interacted with each character. I have to say he was my favourite character in the film and what made me go with this decision was the end scene. We see T'challa speaking with Zemo but after understanding what Zemo has been through he realises he will not stoop to the same level as him and in fact decides to spare him for killing his father.

I honestly can't wait to see what coogler does with this character.

Helmut Zemo: I know a lot of people are saying "marvel shat the bed with this villain" but I have to say they could have never been so wrong. Zemo was consumed with revenge and anger due to the fact that his family died in Sokovia during the battle that took place in Age of Ultron, with this motivation being added to the character it made me somewhat sympathise with him. The Russo's even attempted to humanise the character by having him even explain how he couldn't physically go up against the Avengers but if he could have them kill each other then he could still avenge the death of his family.

Zemo even states at the beginning how a man with patience can get anything done and from this part alone I understood why he would want to carefully put together such a tedious plan in order to stop the Avengers.

Winter Soldier/ James "Bucky" Barnes: out of all of the characters in this film Bucky was one of the more tragic characters in the film as we see him having to suffer for what other people did to him and how other people used him as an attack dog. Bucky is not the same character we have seen in the previous films he is much more scared and still finds it hard to remember his past.

Bucky is being hunted down for things he didn't do and because of this it made me pity him.

Now besides that this film had some of the best action put to screen with some of the best stunt work and cinematography I have seen in a long while. The airport battle was like a comic book come to life, with all the awesome characters using their abilities to fight in what could have been a very crowded sequence was amazing. I had to say Paul Rudd almost stole the show in that scene with some of the dialogue he had with Captain America

"uh- oh I thought it was a water truck"

and with him turning into Giant-man, which was something I waited my whole life to see brought to the big screen.

Now let's talk about Spider-man. This guy was amazing (pun intended) with the best introduction scene in a super hero film. Tom Holland really pulled of the balance of nerdiness and pure bad-assery with his portrayal of spider-man and Peter Parker. I loved how naive Spider-man behaved during the air port sequence, it added a sense of realism to the battle because he really didn't understand the stakes of the whole situation.

"That thing does not obey the laws of physics at all"

With that being said I think this is the best on-screen portrayal of Spider-man we have ever gotten. I also though Tom Holand got the Queens accent quite on point with very little slip ups.

This movie has to be seen on the biggest screen, thankfully I experienced it in all it's glory on the BFI IMAX screen (which is now the biggest screen in Europe due to the IMAX in spain being burnt down) which made the movie film even more epic. I have to say this is a great time to be a marvel comics fan with them churning out quality cinema like this.

I just can't wait to see more!

I think the best thing about Zemo was that he wasn't some rich asshole in a suit or a monster of the week, like most of the MCU villains. He was a regular guy who was driven mad by sadness and revenge.

@Quicker - I really felt like he was the best villain because of how determined he was. He was fueled by vengeance because of the death of his family and that made me relate with him so much more
