First Appearance

Crossbones (Brock Rumlow) is a fictional character, a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe. He was created by writer Mark Gruenwald and artist Kieron Dwyer in Captain America #359-360 (1989). Crossbones usually appears as a henchman of the Red Skull.
Origin

Young Brock Rumlow led the Savage Crims gang on New York's lower east side. After he brutalized fifteen year old Rachel Leighton, two of her brothers assaulted Brock, and the elder brother was killed.

Rumlow fled, entering Taskmaster's school for criminals. Within three years, he became an instructor there under the name Bingo Brock. Rumlow impressed the Red Skull, Johann Schmidt; who gave him the codename: “Crossbones.”

Notable event: During Marvel's Civil War event, Captain America and his Anti-Registration heroes surrendered to Iron Man and his Pro-Registration heroes. While being led from Federal Courthouse, Captain America was shot in the shoulder by Crossbones, who was taking orders from Red Skull.

I love Crossbones, he's my favorite Captain America villain and so glad he is in the next movie. I think they'll do him justice and I think Frank Grillo will do good.

@GLprime - Considering they didn't use the actually Bane mask design for TDKR (idiots) I say let Marvel use Crossbones mask, which they probably will.

Crossbones is about 100% cooler than Bane.

Bane was a mindless idiot in comics at times.

Crossbones has a history with Captain America, Diamondback, and the dude is just evil and a bad a$$ they did get a small guy to play him though. Crossbones is a monster in the comics

Bane was a mindless idiot in the comics? Which one? Have you ever read a single freakin' comic with Bane in it? Try Wikipedia at least before you say something so colossally stupid.

Duran would have been so perfect. Just bulk up his character from lost and there ya go.

I read Batman a little and always liked Bane, I know he was actually a smart guy and what not but it always seemed in comics he was a henchman and followed orders like a mindless henchman. However I did not like TDKR Bane, I liked the actor and everything he should have been but that stupid mask.

Colossally stupid as I am, I like Crossbones better than Bane :)

@blackflash I hope so I don't like how we get less and less costumes that look like the comic,
One of the reasons I love the old movies is be sues of original costumes, Spider-Man superman batman, all of marvels costumes, I would say iron man but that was a movie version that has bled into the comics.

Great article @Witness.

I'd say Bane and Bones are just about equal. I think Bane, if jaked on his Venom, would have the upper hand.
