Like many actors before him, Chris Evans is now stepping behind the camera for his directorial debut Before We Go. He also stars in the movie alongside Alice Eve, and they will play strangers who cross paths in New York's Grand Central Station and end up spending the night getting to know each other. It's set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this month, and The Wall Street Journal recently caught up with the actor to ask if a future directing project will be with Marvel Studios. "So me and Mark Kassen, the guy who I brought on this movie, we were just talking like “what’s next?” I want to continue directing and he’s like “what size movie do you want to direct?” I don’t care. If I read the right script, if that script needs $5 million, if that script needs $50 million, I don’t care. If I read a project that’s beautiful, that I really want to make, whatever it needs, it needs." A vague answer then, but he sounds open to the idea!
Meanwhile, in the following interview with Variety, Evans confirms that his plan now is to only star in movies he directs and those he's obligated to do with Marvel Studios. The actor signed a six picture contract, so as long as his Thor: The Dark World cameo doesn't count, he only has one left after Avengers: Age of Ultron and 2016's Captain America 3. Though he has no plans to retire from acting (contrary to previous reports), it's getting hard to imagine him agreeing to do more for Marvel, though we could get the best of both worlds if he directs and stars in a movie for them.
