Samuel L. Jackson Reveals That He Hasn't Signed On For CAPTAIN MARVEL; Will Not Appear In AVENGERS 3 & 4
He may have assembled the Avengers, but he won't be there for their biggest battle. Samuel L. Jackson confirms that Nick Fury will not appear in Avengers 3 & 4, and has yet to sign on to Captain Marvel...
Nick Fury is one of the most important characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but recently he's been off the grid, nowhere to be found. Without him there would be no Avengers, and Loki and his Chitauri army probably would have taken over the earth by now, speeding up Thanos' plans.
Fans expected Samuel L. Jackson to reprise his role as Fury in Captain America: Civil War, but still nothing. So when exactly will we see the return of the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
At this year's SDCC, Kevin Feige announced that Fury will be making his return in 2019's Captain Marvel, which is set to take place in the 1990s - but according to Jackson, he has yet to receive any official confirmation. "I haven't signed a contract, haven't seen a script," revealed the actor during a recent interview with Yahoo. "I talked to Brie [Larson] the other day, she didn't say anything. She's the only person I know that's actually in the movie." They're probably still working out the logistics, so this isn't all that strange.
Jackson then proceeded to talk about Fury's role in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther and Joe & Anthony Russo's upcoming Infinity War films, confirming that he will not appear in any of the Marvel flicks. “I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?!”
The absence of Nick Fury in Avengers 3 & 4 is certainly weird. Thanos invading earth and assembling the Infinity Gauntlet in Infinity War is an all hands on deck situation for the heroes of the MCU, and Fury not being there might feel incomplete.
What do you think about Samuel L. Jackson's comments on Nick Fury being absent from these upcoming Marvel films?
