The Howard Chaykin art somehow captures the spirit and excitement of Star Wars far more than other more realistic art.

The neutered realism art crap confirms over and over what the films looked like and it is a cheap imitation of the movie shots. But art like Chaykin's is highly imaginative and more about story, tone, excitement than simply emulating imagery from the movies with the help of computer software.

Hey look!..Leia got shot in her titty!
That cover is cool. Interior art is just updated coloring of original art from original book.
Ended up face down & ass up. Har!

I wouldn't exactly consider Star Wars "modern".

Howard Chaykin's on his way to ekrolo2's house to kick his ass. Actually, I'd be honored to have Chaykin kick my ass. He's a legend.

This is the complete wrong way to recolor classic comics. Way too intrusive. Compare to the re-release of Batman: Year One.

I bought that issue # 1 before I even heard of the movie. The adaptation was okay for what it was, but what happened onscreen did not translate nearly as well as the movie. The movie was fast-paced, exciting and a lot like the old serials that used to play on tv on Saturdays when I was a kid.

How did they get Vader so wrong on that original cover.

@ekrolo2

This is art from the 70's. It's great. But the new colors distract and take a lot away from it.
