Here is a look at an interior page of the upcoming graphic novel by Chip Kidd and Dave Taylor.

The upcoming novel is an out of continuity tale set in the 1930's. It features the Joker and a new love interest for Batman, named Cyndia Sill. The backdrop of this story is an early Gotham City, just in the beginning stages of its construction and development.

I'm not a huge Batman fan, but the setting and story seem to be an interesting one. If this is a good noirish tale like that of the series Marvel has done in the past, count me in.

Check out the source link for the artistic process of Taylor.

Batman: Death by Design is due out in stores on May 2,2012.
