Ah, the course of true love eh? A full blown war between The Avengers and The X-Men was always going to put a bit of a strain on the relationship between Storm and Black Panther, but it seems recent events -- namely the decimation of his Kingdom -- have caused T'Challa to reach breaking point, and annul their marriage by royal decree..

Ororo and T'Challa have been married since 2006 -- in the pages of Black Panther #18 -- so this is definitely a shocker for fans of the Royal couple. Although, there were many against the marriage in the first place that may feel this is a good thing. It will certainly allow for some drastic changes in story direction for both characters. What do you think? Sound off below.

Celebrity marriages. They never last

Oh come on. Why? I liked them as a married couple. Sigh... seriously it doesn't make much since, they just made her an Avenger, only for her to side with the X-men? One of the things that were really strange in AvX IMO.

It's just sad that almost no comic marriages are allowed to last. About the only one at Marvel that has is Reed and Sue Richards. Peter and Mary Jane were happily married for a long time until the stupidity of the Shitvil War forced the writers into a corner and broke them up. Every other marriage in Marvel I can think of was short lived. I always thought Panther and Storm made a good couple. Maybe a reconciliation is down the road somewhere after this "A vs X" thing finally ends.

Good. I love Storm and Black Panther but their relationship was a typical example of 'tokinism' in the industry. It wasn't something that was natural and built up in the comics. No, it was 'they're both African so let's add on to their backstories and make this happen, stat!' It was lazy writing.

I liked Storms chemistry with Wolverine, Forge even Bishop throughout the comics.

DumbS#!T move!!! Why???? Ororo and T'Challa have been dating since they were children and they were a happy couple. Scott Summers leads the P5 and Namor destroys Wakanda why punish storm for Cykes dumb a$$. This doesn't seem like the Panther I know. He wouldn't make a move without knowing the implications of said move. This looks like he is acting out of anger and not thinking.

This is what Storm deserves. She blindly backed her mutant brethren (the less than intelligent ones), ignoring what the X-Men have always stood for: Protecting the people that fear and hate them. I think it was a stupid creative move to keep Storm with Cyclops anyways. Storm and Wolverine have been friends and teammates since they became X-Men. Greatest X-men line-up ever was the Uncanny team (Vol 1) when Rogue saved Wolvie from Viper (#179 maybe?).

between this and the Fantastic Four story, I'm thinking Black Panther is due for something big soon. Streamlining for a new book perhaps?

When this series first started, the X-Men at least seemed justified for doing some of the things they did but now they're the villains of AvX. Part of me still wants the X-Men to win, but I don't think they're going to...

This probably has something to do with the fact that FOX owns Storm's movie rights.

Well it looks like Sue and Reed are the only sacred couple to Marvel. Storm really should never have gone back to the X-Men. Her character actually made progress outside of X-Men. Now her character is stagnant again.

As short-lived as this marriage was, at least it ended realistically. Unlike that other marriage in Marvel that ended in the dumbest way conceivable which shall not be named.

Watch out, Reed and Sue. You're next.

@CaptainObvious: Word. I still owe Quesada a roundhouse to the mouth for that last 'marriage ender'.

As for this? I can understand T'Challa being pissed, but it still sucks ass. Storm has only herself and the X Men to be angry with, namely Namor and Dicklops.

Cowards!!!

It would've taken far greater skill...and far greater courage...to write of a married couple that overcomes adversity together & become stronger than simply wipe the slate clean with an annulment.

Gotta admit to being rather disappointed in Marvel with this "development"
