From this preview it would appear that they went back in time to WWII, and will present themselves as heroes to the younger Invaders-era Captain America and Namor, which is why the heroes decide to help them, having no idea who they are.... maybe? Just a wild guess. But I guess that doesn't explain the primitive cave-woman?

I wish they would get Norman Osborn back as leader of The Thunderbolts. He was kicking ass and taking numbers. And it was cool to see Norman Osborn as the threat to the world rather than the Green Goblin.

I can't speak on the cover, but I think Fixer and his back-up group of Thunderbolts (mockingly called the Underbolts) used what should've been a rescue mission to cover up a successful jailbreak. And the cave girl is a feral asgardian nicknamed Troll.

@ WannabeSpiderMan
That makes sense, it would explain why they can only pick up radio waves and why Captain America and Namor would be working with them. Plus why Namor is back to just the trunks.
Thats Troll she is part of the beta team of Thunderbolts. She is half Asgardian and half Troll.

its obvious that most of you guys commenting don't read Thunderbolts and probably never have.

Thunderbolts has always been known to have B-C list villains on their team. Thats why we see the likes of Mr. Hyde and Boomerang. The fact that most of you don't know who any of these people are proves that.

It wasn't until Civil War that they started putting some bigger name villains on the team when Warren Ellis was writing it. That was just to get new readers, because there were always a few B-C listers.

Anyway, Thunderbolts is one of the best books Marvel puts out. and its consistently good, which is whats important. Way better than any Avengers book except maybe Secret Avengers.

i never got into the thunderbolts until warren ellis started writing & i think that is still the best run i've read of the thunderbolts.
DocManhattan
DocManhattan - 8/10/2011, 5:51 AM
What makes Thunderbolts interesting is that they take b-c list villains and they expand upon their stories, something that has never really been done before with these characters. The Thunderbolts prove that you don't really need a team full of a-list characters to write a good story, you just need a to make your characters interesting.

Is that Mr. Hyde? I actually LIKE that look for him.

JackBauer: I also enjoyed the early run of Thunderbolts. The end of #1 was one of the great moments in comic history, imo. What a twist! What about when Jolt discovered their secret?
JackBauer
JackBauer - 8/10/2011, 7:38 AM
@Marvel - Unfortunately, I stopped reading around issue #32 I believe, but Busiek did some great work on the early stuff.

@comicb00kguy - I don't remember Jolt's reaction, but I do remember mine :) It was a stroke of genius though. Introduce the team in a couple issues of the Incredible Hulk and then give these "heroes" their own book right after the Avengers and FF are "killed" by Onslaught, only to reveal to the readers that they are the Masters of Evil. Best surprise twist in a comic that I can remember.

Marvel72: When was Ellis' run on Thunderbolts? I've got a few runs of the title, and I may have the Ellis books. I'd need to reread them if I had them, it's been a while.
