A rare copy of The Amazing fantasy #15, which is the first appearance of Spider-Man, has been stolen from a man in Lincoln, Nebraska. The issue was tucked away with his other comics and was stolen somewhere between October 27 and Monday. The comic is valued at $15,000, but the unnamed man reportedly paid around 1.1 Million dollars for the issue.

From The Lincoln Journal Star:

a $15,000 Spider Man collector's edition comic book is missing from a Lincoln home. The issue went missing between Oct. 27 and Monday morning, the owner told police. The man said he had it with other comic books, but several people had been in and out of the house since he last saw it.

Being married to a Nebraska girl, I tell you that who ever stole it better watch out. Offended Nebraskans are prone to get violent. Horrible retribution would be handed out by the victim, if given the opportunity.

He paid $1.1 million for something valued at $15,000? Sounds like he needs to take a math class.

I had Xmen 23to 50 and 94 to 175 and Giant Size X-Men first introduced the new xmen, stolen from my apartment in 1992 in Scranton, Pa. All were in NM to mint condition. I was 28 at the time and cried like a baby for days. I didnt care that my TV was stolen and they got my car too (Duplicate key in my bedroom). My comic book collection hit me the hardest since I bought all of it for face value.

Unless I hit the lottery, I dont think I'll ever replace it all.

I was born and raised in Omaha, lived here all my life and I can tell you that @MassExecutions is right...Whoever stole this will wish he was a 10-yr-old at Penn St. But he should've had that sh*t locked up. Probably a friend of a 'friend'.

I think the thief didn't respect him because of his lane superhero moniker: Nebraska Man.

Even if the thief were not a comic book fan, such an item clearly carries a hefty price on it. The culprit might have already posted the item on ebay, sold it to a pawn shop, getting ready to take it to a comic con, etc.
