Why would I say it's too early to do a Civil War movie? Obviously Marvel will have about 15 films leading to it's release. But, only 4 with Captain America. Why does the amount of films with Cap matter? Here is why:
Captain America The First Avenger is obviously the origin story for Steve Rodgers. In the 1940's Steve Rodgers is a soldier during World War II that becomes a super soldier. At the end he is frozen and then thawed 70 years later, but we already know that.
The Avengers features Cap as a "man out of time". He is displaced, and is unsure of the new world around him. He spends most of his nights not sleeping due to fear. And by the end of that movie, he is still a man out of time, looking to fit in.
Fast foward to Cap 2 The Winter Soldier. I would say that he still isn't completely caught up with the ways of today. Which is the problem. In order for Captain America to be truly against the Superhero Registration Laws, he needs to know how they would affect the world of today. I know there is still Age of Ultron, but even if by that movie he becomes completely caught up with the world and the reasons behind the laws, it would be as though he finally regains true pride in his country only to have it taken away, which is a lot of what Civil War is about: Captain America going against America's interests. The Winter Soldier showed him with good ole 1940's pride, he needs to finally know what the world is like by today's standards in order for a Civil War movie to work in my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows, but sound off below!
