The God of Thunder has been serving as the new Herald of Galactus, but Donny Cates and Nic Klein's critically acclaimed run on Thor continues next month with the start of a brand-new arc! "Prey" will feature the startling return of Thor's classic alter ego, Donald Blake, in what promises to be Donny Cates' darkest story yet.

It's been years since the God of Thunder required his human ward. So where has the good doctor been all this time? Marvel Comics promises the answer will shock Thor and fans alike as Donald Blake is no longer the man he once was. Now, we enter the twisted prison of Donald Blake in this chilling trailer, featuring never-before-seen artwork from Thor #9!

"'Prey' is maybe the most fun I've ever had writing at Marvel. Thor fans are going to lose their minds over this one and I can't wait to unleash this terrifying beast on them!" Cates said. "Nic Klein is back and at the top of his game on this one. I promise you this, True Believers, just like the mighty thunder king himself...you won't see this one coming. Behold...the return of Donald Blake!"

Journey into a dark mystery left unsolved since 1962 when Thor #9 arrives on November 4th!

Because shocking and dark = good comics.

@RolandD - just because completely bankrupted them in the 90’s doesn’t mean...they aren’t owned by Disney and can do whatever they want without worrying about bankruptcy.

@TheWalkingCuban - Dark and shocking can be good sometimes, don’t get me wrong, but telling a good story should come first. Maybe it’s some hyperbole, but the quotes make it almost sound like he wants Thor fans to lose their minds over this.

@RolandD - they’ll eat each other no doubt, hey long as he comes back from the grave and sees his best friend with his widowed wife, then it’s all good wholesome Thor stuff

@RolandD - he just killed Galactus... yeah Donny Cates is better at "shocking and dark" than whoever scorned you in the past. Give this book a chance you won't regret it.

I see this cover and I think of Alexander Skarsgård as Donald Blake. Maybe in the Multiverse.

Sigh....if it tells a good story, continues the development of the characters, and builds on its own history, then great.

Unfortunately, the cliche of changing things up sounds more like the same repetitive “shake the foundation “ fluff piece that promises every time to “change the marvel universe forever.” Again. Or in this case, just Thor.
That crap was what made me give up on buying books several years ago.
It became more predictable than a WWE match.

@lawndart - That’s exactly what it sounds like to me.

@lawndart - have you read Donny Cates stuff? He never disappoints. And Thor is easily the best book at Marvel since Cates took over.

@Makiveli21 -Thanks for the recommendation; do you know if there is a collection of Cates issues on Thor to make it easier to pick up (vs a number of issues)?
