DEADPOOL 3 Star Hugh Jackman Recreates The Exact Moment He Knew He Regretted Retiring As Wolverine

Deadpool 3 will see the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and the actor has now taken to social media to share a recreation of the moment he knew he regretted hanging up the claws after Logan...

Hugh Jackman made it very clear that he was done playing Wolverine after James Mangold's Logan (the character was even killed off just to hammer the point home), but we've learned that you can never say never when it comes to the movie business, and the Aussie actor is set to suit-up as the fan-favorite X-Man again for Deadpool 3.

Jackman has already explained why he chose to reprise the role, but he's now shared a brief video recalling the exact moment he knew he'd regretted retiring as Wolvie.

"If I'm honest, twenty minutes into the Deadpool movie, all I kept seeing was 48 Hours, the Nick Nolte/Eddie Murphy movie. I was like 'Damnit, damnit. What have I done? What have I done? Nope, you said no. That's it. It's done, ok, I'm done.'"

To be fair, Jackman was true to his word... for a while! Apparently, Ryan Reynolds reached out to him several times over the years to see if he'd be interested in some sort of Wade Wilsonl/Logan team-up, and in the end, Hugh was the one to pick up the phone and tell his friend that he was "in" for Deadpool 3.

Plot details are few and far between, but there are rumors that the TVA from Loki will somehow be involved with bringing the Merc With a Mouth and Logan into the MCU. We assume Wade will stick around, but does this mean Jackman will stay on as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Wolverine going forward?

All will be revealed when Deadpool 3 hits theaters on September 6, 2024.

...why would the tva be involved? Like, they shouldn't care about his time traveling since he's not part of the sacred timeline. Can't they just use any number of actual ways to travel the multiverse? Or even have him discover his own?

@Origame - he’s part of a timeline that was created because of what happened at the end of Loki.

@Origame - I agree, it seems like the TVA act a bit inconsistently across these movies/shows. That's one of my bigger gripes about Phase 4 is the lack of cohesion, concerning the multiverse. It feels like there were 3-4 spontaneous multiverse events that just happened to occur around the same time, where I feel it would have been better storytelling to depict them all as a series of domino falls, beginning with the Loki finale.

And if that's what the intent is, I don't think it was conveyed particularly well.

@philinterrupted - ...no its not. What the tva did was separate the sacred timeline from the rest of the multiverse. What happened at the end of loki, while creating some new timelines, opened up the timeline to other universes. That's why he was commenting on his variants, even though he wouldn't know what Kang variants were gonna be created.

@SheepishOne - exactly. And I still don't get what's going on with dormammu and his dimension. That was before the sacred timeline was split, meaning there should be no connection between that dimension and the mcu.

They need to have a group meeting between feige and the writers about what tf is the deal with the multiverse.

@Origame - It blows my mind that there isn't like two or three people whose job it is to specifically track continuity and call out inconsistencies in scripts. Heck, even one person. Or a spreadsheet somewhere.

Or just keep a marker board in the writers' room with red strings and pictures of characters to show who went where and why.

@Origame - In danger of sounding a 'Nerd Alert' I believe Dormammu's Dark Dimension is a 'realm' much like Valhalla is in Thor: Love and Thunder, The Field of Reeds in Moonknight and the Ancestral Plane in Black Panther. They exist independently outside the multiverses but connected to all of them.

@SheepishOne - funny thing is the comics has someone who's job it is to sort the multiverse. But the mcu thought they knew better and ignored the rules/designation (mcu is considered earth 199999).

@Orphix - literally all that you mentioned are afterlife planes. The dark dimension isn't anything like that.

In fact, when the dark dimension was introduced we were also introduced to the concept of the multiverse, alongside the introduction to magic. Why would that be the case if multiversal shenanigans didn't happen in this movie?

@Origame - Yep - admittedly all those examples are afterlife planes - however you could include the Noor Realm from Ms Marvel, Ta-Lo from Shang-chi and the Quantum Realm from Ant-man.

@Orphix - noor realm was specifically described as another dimension, ta lo most likely is as well, and while we don't know much about the quantum realm yet, it's still our universe just smaller.

Jackman's a man of his word, I'll give him that. I just hope that with him we get James Marsden's Cyclops, Famke Janssen's Jean Grey, Halle Berry's Storm, Kelsey Grammar's Beast, Channing Tatum's Gambit, Anna Paquin's Rogue, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler and a bit more unlikely since he died TWICE in DOFP, Shawn Ashmore's Iceman.
