I grew up as a child of the 90's. And, as such, I was brought up with the awesome "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." Even to this day, I dig this show (The original Rangers). It takes me back to a much simpler time in my life, when I was at my happiest. So, I've been thinking, who could play these iconic characters today? I am choosing to go with the assumption that the movie would be baced on the "Green With Envy" Saga. It's my favorite part of the entire series. I'd like to be a film writer, and I am currently working on "Green With Evil" as a movie, in my view(THANK YOU BOREDOM AND TRUE NERDINESS). Now, in this list, I am including EVERYONE I feel could portray these characters. So, let me know what you think in the usual place. Here we go:
Zordon-Patrick Stewart
Nobody else can portray the "All-Knowing" floating head like Patrick Stewart can.
Jason Lee Scott(Red Ranger)-Josh Hutcherson
As with "Marty McFly," Josh is an excellent actor. He has the chops to play "Jason Lee Scott" with the strong leadership presence that "The Red Ranger" embodies.
Jason Lee Scott(Red Ranger)-Chris Pine
I've got to hand this pick over to "Ryden." I'm not sure why he didn't get picked up on my radar, but Chris Pine would be an excellent choice for "Jason," if they decided to go with an older cast. He's a great actor, for proof, watch "Bottle Shock."
Jason Lee Scott(Red Ranger)-Channing Tatum
If they were to decide to go with a more experienced actor for the role, I'm confident that Channing Tatum can pull it off. He's got the looks and the ability(GI Joe, yeah it sucked, but it proved that he can provide the action abilities needed to portray the original leader of the "Power Rangers"). Also, Channing Tatum is more than just the "classic built, muscular, leading man." Want proof, check out "Stop Loss."
Zack Taylor(Black Ranger)-Corbin Bleu
Corbin Bleu needs to have his chance to prove that he is more than just the "Dancing Disney Kid" (yes, "Zack Taylor" is known for his "Hip-Hop Kido," but it's only a small part). Like Zac Efron, I think that he has the potential to be a great actor. I think that he would fit the role like a nice pair of dancing shoes.
Trini Kwan(Yellow Ranger)-Devon Aoki
We all know that Devon Aoki can kick-ass(Sin City). She looks the part, and you definately don't want to mess with her(in a fighting situation).
Kimberly Hart(Pink Ranger)-Anna Sophia Robb
Anna can play the role of "Kimberly Hart" the way it needs to be played, sweet(Bridge to Terabithia) and a bit narcissistic(Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
Kimberly Hart(Pink Ranger)-Amanda Seyfried
If they wanted an older actress, Amanda Seyfried would be their best choice. She can play the ditzy narcissist(Mean Girls) with a sweet side(Letters to Juliet).
Billy Cranston(Blue Ranger)-Christopher Mintz Plasse
Please, if you can think of a better actor, tell me. Christopher Mintz Plasse IS "Billy Cranston."
Billy Cranston(Blue Ranger)-Anton Yelchin
Upon further reflection(ie, I just watched "Charlie Bartlett" for the hundredth time), Anton Yelchin is the natural pick. He's a stand-out actor, and has the ability, and look, to pull this role off.
Tommy Oliver(Green Ranger)-Rory Culkin
Rory Culkin, like his brother, is a great actor(or rather, has potential). He's not really my top choice, but if they were to use a younger cast, Rory would be the top pick. On a side-note, I think that once "Scream 4" comes out, we will see A LOT MORE Rory Culkin.
Tommy Oliver(Green Ranger)-Emile Hirsch
What can I say about Emile Hirsch? What a great actor. With the exception of "Speed Racer," I love everything he's in. I think that he can be sinister as the "Green Ranger" when he's evil(Alpha Dog), and polite and funny when he becomes good(Girl Next Door). This guy is not in nearly enough movies.
Tommy Oliver(Green Ranger)-Taylor Kitsch
Taylor Kitsch got a bit of a raw deal in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." But, I feel that he portrayed my favorite mutant, Gambit, exactly how it needed to be played. I think he's got the look, and can kick-ass.
Bulk & Skull-Jonah Hill and Michael Cera
Again, these two pals can definately portray "Bulk & Skull." Plus, Michael Cera needs to prove that he can play more than the "Awkward, Nervous Teenager."
Rita Repulsa-Lucy Liu
Lucy Liu, as we all know, can be a sinister ass-kicker when she chooses to be(Kill Bill Vol. 1). I think she would be excellent as the evil witchy nemesis to the "Power Rangers."
Lord Zedd-Willem Dafoe
I think, if there is a Satan, he would piss his pants if he heard Willem Dafoe speak. Obviously, they would get a larger actor to portray the physical, on-screen "Lord Zedd." But, they need a voice that strikes fear into the hearts of the public. And that voice belongs to Willem Dafoe.
Lord Zedd-Jackie Earle Haley
Another creepy voice, whether he be "Rorschac" or "Freddy Kruegar." Jackie Earle Haley is a scary cat that will send a chill down your spine.
Lord Zedd-Hugo Weaving
Hugo Weaving ALWAYS plays an excellent villain(The Matrix, and soon, Captain America: The First Avenger). Besides his scary, villainous glare, his voice is what seperates him from every other actor in all of Hollywood.
