J. Jonah Jameson: A Marvel One-Shot

J. Jonah Jameson: A Marvel One-Shot

Face it. Whether you liked Sam Rami's original Spider-man trilogy or not, you knew J.K. Simmons completely nailed the role of J. Jonah Jameson. Sadly, there has been no confirmation of his return for the new franchise. In even sadder news, the odds of the Daily Bugle editor-in-chief getting his own feature film are at a solid 0. But hey, we can dream.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming Sony still holds the rights to the character. So, it makes sense that any JJJ one-shot would be attached to a Spider-man DVD. Basically, the short would cover a day in the life of J. Jonah Jameson, with J.K. Simmons reprising the titular role.

It starts off with an obviously angry J. Jonah Jameson readying himself for work. His wife tries to stir up some friendly conversation, but he keeps reminding her to shut up. He sits down for breakfast and picks up the newspaper, which is not his own Daily Bugle. Confused, his wife asks him why. The annoyed editor grunts and tells her how his paper is no good. Of course, he blames his lazy, overpaid, good-for-nothing workers. He gets up and leaves for his office.

Next we get to see the excitement of J. Jonah Jameson stuck in traffic. He frustratedly honks the horn and jump around in his car. He grumbles about all the things wrong with the city, with cars, with people, etc.

He gets to work and a valet service offers to park his car. Jameson gets out and hands them the keys. The worker also asks for a tip. He refuses. The two argue back and forth before Jameson gives up and gets back in the car. He circles the parking lot a few times, unable to find a spot. He refuses to give the worker the satisfaction of seeing him fail. After so much time, he sees one of his workers walking in. He pulls up next to them and fires them, forcing them to vacate their parking spot. Satisfied, Jameson pulls in and enters the Daily Bugle office.

On the elevator ride up, we hear his inner thoughts. As expected, he's complaining about how slow the elevator is, how its too crowded, and how only high-level employees like himself should be able to use the elevator. He can't take the madness and shoves his way out at the next floor. Jameson then grudgingly slumps up the stairs.

Finally, he sits down in his office. He seems at peace until his phone rings. Too annoyed to answer it, he just stares and makes faces. Eventually, his secretary, Ms. Brant, runs in and picks up the phone. She tells JJJ that it's his wife on the line. He grunts and asks for the phone. He musters out an aggravated "hello" and hangs up.

Then in walks a freelance photographer (maybe or maybe not Peter Parker) with some Spider-man photos. Jameson uncharacteristically thinks they're wonderful. He then offers the kid a job. They accept. "Fantastic," Jameson says, "Ms. Brant, meet our new doorman." The photographer tries to explain that that's not the job they had in mind. Jameson ignores them. "Minimum wage," he adds.

The day goes on and Jameson doesn't pay much attention to anything that goes on in his office. He sits through meetings with the same bored, blank expression. When it comes time to close up, he is the first to leave.

In the parking lot, he finds his car trashed and a tip jar resting in the front seat. He blames Spider-man for not stopping the vandal. He sits through more traffic on the way home, again shouting at every single thing he can.

When he gets back home, his wife has prepared a nice dinner for the both of them. He ignores her, takes a plate, and slugs up to his room. He locks the door behind him, sets the food on a side table, and collapses on his bed.

Fin.

No, Sony no longer has the rights to JJJ who is part of the Spider-Man universe that they are currently making.

I'd see a one shot on JJJ.

@Arbrary
Really? I would've thought for sure that they transferred over with spidey? Maybe he's one of those gray area characters like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver?

Now for some reason, I want to hear Seth MacFarlane voice JJJ in an animated cartoon.

Speaking of all things funny, how does this sound to you guys:

"The Roast of Deadpool", with master of ceremonies Jerry Lewis.
