well dude, I don think I know you. So I assume this is one of your first ones. So, I don't want to sound like a dick. But, most of the stuff above. His been done like over and over. Know what I mean. I mean, you got the Human Torch. Jean Grey. Quicksilver. Storm. Mondo. the chick from teen titans, can't remember her name. and the last one Darkness. That's actually a comic. Not saying your ideas aren't good. Don't take me wrong at all. My suggestion to you is as follows: Find yourself some Psychology books, some philosophy books, a couple different dictionaries, and maybe even a book that lists mental illnesses. That sounds weird right? The thing is, you can find actual things, that mentally ill people think they can do. Such as urn themselves into rock. With actual scientific names, and other additives to increase the interest, and character development in your story. You can discover what kind of emotions people have who think they can do this. Also, the effects that these kind of things can have on people. It will make your story a lot more interesting and more believable. Also, looking through all these things, might give you ideas for more names for the characters, ones that haven't been heard before, and would make people think, whoa who the hell is that. Sorry, if i came off mean, or anything like that. Just trying to help a fellow comic fan out. Later

nice concept. try not not to make the story too basic. work outside the usual formula. also watch out for copying other characters.
when i read about joseph, i thought human torch.
johnny=joseph.
make their characteristics completely different.
speed is a codename already taken and probably copyrited.
i would say pulse because the name is less known. not to mention the powers are different.
Dusk is easier to write than darkness. the name is also less known and more generic. the name has been used by many heroes for short periods of time. we need a permanent dusk.
what does blackblaze do exactly? what did he become?
Great ideas and i hope you will turn them into sympathetic legends of yore.
i am only making a few suggestions and i think you have something here.
i hope you do well.

well, in greek for example. Vulcan, is the god of fire. Now, that name is already taken but its an idea. Also, you can look up different Gods in other religions, other cultures, or just different words for fire see if one stands out. Same goes for the rest.

Grothar: God of the Weather, also called Grothar Weathergod, the Grey King, Rainlord, Cloudmaster, King of the Skies or Father of the Skies, especially among the Eyelians. Return to the top.

Erebus, was the son of a primordial god, Khaos, and represented the personification of darkness and shadow, which filled in all the corners and crannies of the world.

Gaia, was the greek goddess of the earth. But, yours is a guy. so, that doesn't really work.

Anubis, is one of many gods of the dead, in egyptian. There are many others. you could find.

Some of that might help, just giving you ideas on where to start looking. Ya really gotta get your hands dirty to make a story that hasn't already been done. Another thing you want to do, is develop the character, don't just say he's more serious than Johnny Storm. Give him reasons for being this way. Show, in every word, how serious he is. Know what I'm saying?

Well, you said this is your first story. So, you really want to make an impact. Now, I'm assuming this is a team. Which, means they will be in battles together. So, instead of him saying "Alright, team lets go." Which sounds serious enough. But it doesn't really say anything...so how about. "Alright, Gale get in the air, see if you can slow 'em down, soak 'em if you have to. Phantom, see the big guy? Get inside him. Use his strength against his own team. (that is assuming since he's a ghost, he can possess people?) Tyler, I'm going to try to separate a few of them. When I do, I want you to barracade them with the streets. We need to get them away from eachother, there's strength in numbers...So,lets lessen there's!"

See what I mean? You can tell he's in charge. You can tell he means business, you can tell he knows what he's doing.
Also, have you thought about their weaknesses? Everyone has to have a weakness, or they would be able to win every fight. Which would deplete any believable conflict for the story. Tyler, for example. He can turn to rock, and control it right? Well, if he's a rock, nothing aside from a missile is going to be able to do much damage to him. So what if say only his arms turned to rock, and only when he is touching rock. That way, if a bad guy picks him up, or say, he's in water...he is left powerless. there you have a conflict. A weakness, that can be used to make people first off relate to your hero. But, also to make them think "oh, how's he going to get outta this mess?" Which is great when you have a team, cuz all of his friends jump in and save the day. Know what I mean?

You never said how they get their powers. Be creative with it, if you haven't already. Erebus, for example. maybe Jack buys an old egyptian necklace from a pawnshop for his mom, for her birthday, upon wearing it, he discovers that it holds the power of the god, who owned it before him, and at any time, he can behold the powers of that god. Kinda like Thor and his hammer ya know? Just an idea, anything you like you can have, anything you don't, don't use. Just trying to help you out. That also creates another good dramatic twist for the story. Say a bad guy discovers the source of his power, he will want the necklace. Maybe even use another god, who killed Erebus, who stored his powers in the necklace to keep them safe, Jack finds the necklace and uses it, now the god who killed Erebus thinks he is still alive, cuz this kid is running around using his powers. There's a million different things you can do with these characters.

Ok, I hadn't realized that Jack was a villain. That changes what i typed above. I need to re-read more often. lol. In light of that. you could still go with what I said. It still creates a great conflict for your villain, to have his own personal enemy. Maybe a greater enemy than he is, also a villain, and an enemy of your heroes. Could supply ammo for a lot of really cool three way battles. I'm assuming that Blackblaze is going to be your main bad guy? A Lex Luthor of sorts? First off, having his very own henchman, provides for great story telling, and also his right hand man could be the main antagonist for your heroes while Blackblaze stays in the background. Kind of how the Kingpin had Bullseye do all his dirty work. Easy way to incorporate more villains. Start out simple though. You don't want to make it amazingly complex or it will be too much. Spend the first part of your story, maybe showing how Joseph and Chris became enemies, and than work it into finding the new members of the team. End with one good conflict. Move onto a sequel. Concentrate on character build up. Your readers will want to be familiar with the characters by the time you get to the main confrontation of the story.

well dude. Normally, I would be extremely happy to take you up on that offer. But, I'm in the middle of writing five stories. It's very time occupying and kind of stressful. lol. I don't think taking another one on would help too much, and all the stories would struggle for it. But, I would be more than happy to help you anytime you need it. I gave you my fansite. So you can contact me anytime.

Well, I pretty much agree with everything Joslezio said up there. I will add some things though.

A good story has emotional conflict. It is much easier to do when you have kid teams like yours. Say one of them has a girlfriend and he has been neglecting her due to his work as a hero, and they are growing distant from one another. Or one person has a single mother that depends on them, and wjile they are out protecting others, someone (an enemy or a regular villain) kills her, and he feels guilty for not being there to protect her.

For Tyler(Rocky) what about calling him "Silex" it's Latin for rock.

You said you needed more villains? well make them the antipotem of your heroes.

Tyler can turn to rock, so make his foe a guy that can turn into rocks, but can also manipulate cold, make his form coated with ice. And call him "Coldstone" cold can crack rocks so that is a possible foe.

The Danny Phantom boy's enemy would be hard to do. Would it be another ghost, or perhaps someone that can turn into pure energy.

Speed, you could give him an enemy that controls sonic vibrations, kinda like Avalanche from X-Men. It's not a common power, and you can't run on ground thats dropped out from under ya.

Gale could face a weather manipulator.

These are just some quick ideas I had.

Mindbender. Maybe a TK user?
