I’ve received photos and info from Red Dead Wiki. I know nothing about this game, but saw how real the characters looked, I felt it was calling for a Fancast. After reading the synopsis, I am really hoping this becomes a movie. I wanted to stay away from actors already portrayed in Westerns.
Characters in Red Dead Redemption all possess different personalities, habits and individual routines. Despite the fact that in the game the era known as the "wild" West is coming to an end, most of the characters seem to retain most of the traits, values, and personalities that are synonymous with this period. John Marston meets and interacts with a variety of different characters in the game.

In 1908, a botched bank robbery leaves Marston wounded and disillusioned. Some time afterward. In 1911, John and Bill meet once again. John has been extorted into pursuing and apprehending Williamson due to his gang's vicious crimes. Edgar Ross and the Bureau Of Investigation threaten John's son and wife to force John to complete the task. Marston confronts Williamson from outside the fortified walls, appealing to him to surrender before any harm befalls him. Williamson refuses, has several men put Marston at gunpoint, and berates John for his reformation. John responds by reaching for his revolver, causing one of Williamson's men to open fire, and wounding him in the lower-right torso. They presume John dead. Hours pass, until local ranchers, Bonnie MacFarlane and Amos discover him wounded. They take Marston back to treat his wounds. In return for a $15 doctor's bill, John agrees to work at the ranch for a short time, but Bill later found out that John lived with Bonnie and burned the barn to the ground. During that time, Marston recruited some people in New Austin with a cost of helping them. After helping Leigh Johnson, Nigel West Dickens, Seth Briars and Irish, John planned a strategy to raid Bill's hideout. The group breached the fort only to find out that Bill fled to Mexico with the help of a member of John's former gang, Javier Escuella. John ventured to Mexico and was forced to work with Colonel Allende, the brutal dictator of a region in Mexico called Nuevo Paraiso. Even though Allende promised to deliver Escuella and Williamson to Marston, Allende betrayed Marston and attempted to kill him. Due to the betrayal, John then joined the anti-government rebels led by Abraham Reyes and attacked Allende's villa. John managed to kill Allende and Williamson but Luisa Fortuna, a rebel freedom fighter, died as she protected Reyes from his executioners. Later, Reyes takes control of Mexico and becomes the new president. When Bill Williamson is killed in Mexico, Agent Ross refuses to return Marston's family and instead declares John is not finished. He is told Dutch van der Linde is back and Marston is obligated to kill him. Together with a Native American named Nastas and Professor Harold MacDougal, John tries to hunt down Dutch. Dutch recruits disenfranchised young Native Americans off of the local reservations for his new gang.. Dutch escapes after shooting a girl in the head and throwing her body into Marston's arms. In the final assault he and Dutch battle with each other. Dutch is backed to a cliff by Marston. With Dutch explaining how he can't fight his nature, he can't change. He then tells John that they are a dying breed in a changing world. He commits suicide and casts himself off the cliff and falls to his death. Agent Ross uses Marston's pistol to shoot the corpse and claims it will look better in the report.
Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order, The Narrows) as
William "Bill" Williamson is a Central character and one of the primary antagonists in Red Dead Redemption. He is a former gang partner of John Marston. Marston has been extorted into hunting down his former brothers in arms, with Bill Williamson being the primary target. The hunt for Bill Williamson serves as the impetus for the game's plot, and is the central motivating factor throughout. During this time, Williamson seems to have had a casual sexual relationship with Abigail Marston. Marston and Williamson may have competed for Dutch's favor
Kevin Bacon (The River Wild, Stir of Echoes) as
Dutch van der Linde was the leader of the infamous Dutch's Gang, Gang members included John Marston, Abigail Marston, Bill Williamson, and Javier Escuella. Once an altruistic rogue, Dutch gradually descended into madness, which causes the disillusionment of the other members. Van der Linde had not been seen or heard from in several years and was thought to have perished in a fire
Oscar Jaenada (Losers) as
Javier Escuella was once a Mexican revolutionary. After spending some time in America, Escuella became a member of Dutch's Gang. When Dutch's gang was disbanded after Dutch went insane, Javier took it hard and returned to Mexico and worked as a hitman.. John guns down Javier while riding his horse. John then takes his dead body and puts it in a jail cell, he has to show it to Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham as proof. Before walking out of the jail cell though, John looks at his old friend lying dead on the floor and wipes a tear from his eye.
Guy Pearce (LA Confidential, Memento) as
John Marston is a former outlaw and bandit. He ran with Dutch's Gang committing bank robberies, train raids, murders and other various crimes across the country. After being in 1908, Marston sought to retire from the outlaw lifestyle. Putting his past deeds behind him, he disappeared along with his wife Abigail Marston and young son Jack and purchased himself a ranch. Between his abandonment of the gang and the beginning of the game, Marston had a daughter, but she died of cholera. He adheres to the old-fashioned West, in a world rapidly experiencing the advancements of technology. The Bureau of Investigation, headed by Edgar Ross aims to rid the region of all of the violent gangs running wild and unchallenged, especially that of Bill Williamson's. Edgar decides to use the former outlaw John Marston by kidnapping his wife and son. After the raid, John is released by the government and finally reunites with his family at their ranch in Beecher's Hope. He settles down with his wife Abigail and teen son Jack, along with old family-friend Uncle, and attempts to return to a crime-free life as a farmer with his family. However, Edgar double-crosses John. He launches an attack on the Marston ranch. Uncle is killed during the gunfight, while John and son continue holding off the attack. John tells Abigail and Jack to run while he stays behind in the barn to defend them. But in reality, he realizes that the only way to save his family from the government's crosshairs is to lay down his life so they can be free. He draws his pistol and takes out as many men as he can until they open fire on him.

Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions, Hellboy series) as
Abigail used to ride with the members of Dutch’s Gang. She was a prostitute and often slept with all of the members of the gang but ultimately fell in love with John and became pregnant with his child. Abigail and John then sought protection for their son Jack, and Abigail, no longer a 'whore', becomes a married woman faithful to her husband.
John Mahoney (Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, Frasier) as
Uncle is an aging alcoholic and reformed petty thief. Uncle resides with the Marston family, and is provided with food and shelter at the family ranch in exchange for work he rarely performs. "Uncle" is a nickname, and he is of no biological relation to any of the Marstons. Uncle, in his own way, can be viewed as seeking redemption from his life of petty crime by working on the Marston ranch. This parallels the decisions of John and Abigail to leave Dutch’s gang and lead a normal life. Uncle assists John in fighting the soldiers, showing great competence with a rifle. After the initial assault, John and Uncle retreat to the house. There they defend against the second assault. Uncle is quickly wounded in the chest. Jack ceases firing and comes to Uncle's side as he dies.
Cameron Bright (The Butterfly Effect, Birth) as
Jack Marston
Stephen Root (several Coen’s Brother’s movies, Dodgeball, News Radio) as
Edgar Ross
Oliver Platt (3 Musketeers, Frost/Nixon) as
Colonel Agustin Allende is responsible for suppressing the rebellion in the Nuevo Paraiso territory led by Abraham Reyes, and doesn't care whom he hurts in order to achieve his goals. He is intelligent, corrupt and brutal. After John Marston's venture to Mexico, he was forced to work with Allende, who promised to deliver Javier Escuella and Bill Williamson to John.
Javier Bardem(Before Night Falls, No Counrty for Old Men) as
Vincente de Santa will do anything for the Army and kill anyone that tries to stop him. De Santa is portrayed as a cruel, abusive and sadistic man. On a regular basis he personally participates in the slaughter of civilians that support the rebels and willingly kidnaps women to satisfy the sexual appetite of his commander, Colonel Allende. He is also a vicious sycophant, who is not above sending competitors on suicide missions for personal gain; he even makes a man dig his own grave before shooting him. He is also portrayed as a homosexual. De Santa works alongside John Marston (who never likes the cowardly Captain due to his unnessaccery cruelty) before they betray him. In the end, he is left to the rebels. He is shot by the rebels and left there to rot in a pool of his own blood, despite the fact he has been beaten so severely he already looks like a corpse.
Jonathan Rhys Myers (The Tudors, Elvis) as
Abraham Reyes
Q’Orianka Kilcher (The New World, Princess Kaiulani) as
Luisa Fortuna
Brian Doyle-Murray (JFK, Yes Dear) as
Nigel West Dickens poses as a traveling salesman, when he is really a con man. Used as Comic relief.
Sam Elliot (The Big Lebowski, Tombstone) as
Landon Ricketts was a famous gunslinger during the height of the Old West, and stories of his adventures and fights were commonplace during John Marston's childhood. He also appeared in many gunfights, including the infamous "Blackwater Massacre" in 1899. Ricketts moved to Chuparosa sometime later for a more "quiet" lifestyle where he serves the people as an unofficial lawman.
How can this cowboy not be in a Western, I think it’s some sort of law. And how can he not play this character. With the exeption of Elliot I tried to stay away from the few actors who've starred in Westerns
