SAM RAIMI'S SPIDER-MAN TRILOGY RECAST

(Note: This is a recast of characters, not a recast that calls it self a recast then adds characters not even in the movie. Also just for fun there are some changes made to the stories in the sequels.)

Theme: Accepting Change.

Lesson: With great power comes great responsibility.

Story: Based on Marvel Comics' superhero character, this is a story of Peter Parker who is a nerdy high-schooler. He was orphaned as a child, bullied by jocks, and can't confess his crush for his stunning neighborhood girl Mary Jane Watson. To say his life is "miserable" is an understatement. But one day while on an excursion to a laboratory a runaway radioactive spider bites him... and his life changes in a way no one could have imagined. Peter acquires a muscle-bound physique, clear vision, ability to cling to surfaces and crawl over walls, shooting webs from his wrist ... but the fun isn't going to last. An eccentric millionaire Norman Osborn administers a performance enhancing drug on himself and his maniacal alter ego Green Goblin emerges. Now Peter Parker has to become Spider-Man and take Green Goblin to the task... or else Goblin will kill him. They come face to face and the war begins in which only one of them will survive at the end.

Peter Parker/Spider-Man: Peter Benjamin Parker is a young photographer for the Daily Bugle who was bitten by a genetically-modified spider during a high school excursion, which granted him superhuman abilities and spider-like attributes. Hence, he became the costumed superhero known as Spider-Man.

Ryan Reynolds: Look I know you guys are going to give me flack for this one. To be honest this is just a role he should have played, he is the worlds second most notable smart mouth, I mean people call Deadpool The punisher with Spider-Man’s Mouth so why not let him play Spider-Man. Back in 2002 he was about 26 which is not bad for casting a teenager, and since the sequels he was noticeable older the age in the first movie is barely an issue. To be honest I believe he would have given a much more genuine performance the Tobey.

Mary Jane Watson: Mary Jane Watson was a popular student in the same high school as her neighbor, Peter Parker, who had a crush on her. and she's the girlfriend of . She was warm-hearted and good-looking, and often doesn't approve the way her boyfriend Flash bullied Peter. During a field trip to a genetics lab, MJ was photographed many times by Peter, who gets distracted and so bitten by the mutated spider, which would transform him in Spider-Man.

Amy Adams: She was a bombshell at a young age, having been about 28. She is a fantastic actress who captivates attention and as a red head she has the look of Mary Jane down pat.

May Parker: Aunt May and Uncle Ben took care of their nephew, Peter Parker. After Uncle Ben was shot and killed by a carjacker, Peter and May shared their grief for Uncle Ben.

Nancy Allen: I really don’t like seeing the Super old Aunt May because it seems to cruch the character. I wanted an actress who could play a decent, and more Ultimate styled Aunt May, but I didn’t want to play to a stereotype so I cast a bit outside the box and used Robocop’s Nancy Allen. She is an amazing actress who really could pull the role off.

Ben Parker: Ben Parker or Uncle Ben was Peter Parker's uncle and husband of May Parker who was killed spurring Peter on to become Spider-Man.

Jeffrey DeMunn: This came mainly because of his wonderful performance in the Walking Dead, playing the voice of reason in Dale, it inspired me to see him as Uncle Ben and even easily hearing him say “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.”

Norman Osborn/Green Goblin : Norman Osborn was the founder of Oscorp and later became one of Spider-Man's first supervillains, the Green Goblin.

Ralph Fiennes: Watch Red Dragon, this guy is amazing at playing whack-job supervillains and even holds a menace to him that would have been equeal or possibly better the Dafoe’s Goblin.

Harry Osborn: Son to the scientific Billionare, desperately attempting to gain his Father’s Love and affection.

Jake Gyllenhaal: Runner up to the Spider-Man role I could honestly say that after watching Donnie Darko I would have rather seen him as Harry Osborn.

Flash Thompson: High school Bully who tortures Peter as a way of coping with his Father’s abuse and lack of emotional caring.

Jensen Ackles: By now we’ve seen ackles in a lot of roles and probably even suggested as Venom a time or two, a great actor who was worth putting in this role, he’s got the size and the attitude of a snooty bully.

J. Jonah Jameson: Newspaper editor behind the famed Daily Bugle, begins a smear campaign against Spider-Man, while unwittingly buying photos of the wall crawler from his alter ego Peter Parker.

Bruce Campbell: Not to poop over JK’s performance, it was by far perfect. But to resemble a more Sam Raimi cast I wanted to see Campbell as Jonah, he’s got the talent and knack for insults that Jonah has and would be great at pointing Spider-Man out as a menace.

Joseph Robert Robertson: A street smart reporter who’s shown admiration and trust in Spider-Man going as far as defending him to his Boss.

Ernie Hudson: The public hasn’t seen Hudson in many big films. He is a great supporting player best known as Winston Zedmore and as the Warden in OZ. A favorite actor of mine he was one of few I would really have wanted to see as Robbie.

Betty Brant: As seen in past Spider-Man comics, Betty Brant is Jameson's secretary who has a bit of a soft spot for Peter.

Bryce Dallas Howard: A Beautiful young actress, who was very miscast in Spider-Man 3, gives great performances and was just starting out at the time, which she could have been affordable and a great addition.

Hoffman: A bright young assistant trying to earn Jonah’s admiration.

Justin Long: A young star who played a part in Raimi’s return to Horror. I am a fan of Justin as an Actor, he does great work as an actor and this would have been a nice safe role for him.

Wrestling Announcer: The Man who offers the sum of $3000 and Names Peter the Amazing Spider-Man! to whoever can pin Bonesaw.

Ted Raimi: This is just obligatory.

Wrestling Promoter: The owner who pay Peter the lowly sum of $100 before being robbed of the nights intake.

Miguel Ferrer: An actor who I could just see as a greedy promoter.

Dennis Carradine: The man who killed Uncle Ben.

Doug Hutchison: I loved his performance as Percy in the Green Mile, he had a style to him that I just enjoyed and having worked with my Uncle Ben choice it would have been a nice throwback.

Theme: Forgiveness.

Message: You must forgive yourself for tragedies you blame yourself for so you can fully accept and embrace what you are.

Story: Sequel to the hit 2002 adaptation of the Marvel Comic Book Movie, Having grown into the role of Spider-Man and trying to balance his life in school and work. All the while the senseless tragedy encircling his Uncle Ben’s death begins taking true replications as his Aunt is facing foreclosure, and his self-guilt is throwing off the flow of his powers. All in this culminating to an Osborn incorporated lab accident involving Dr. Otto Octavius surgically sealing four mechanical arms to his flesh. With the threat of the renamed Dr. Octopus as the villain Spider-Man must overcome his own tragedies and teach self-forgiveness to his foe in an attempt to restore his friend’s humanity and realize whether or not he is able to continue being Spider-Man.

Now facing the Guilt of his Uncle’s Death the psychological trauma is causing his Powers to malfunction at the most inconvenient times. Now the Wall crawler must try to forgive himself so he can become Spider-Man and save the world!

Ryan Reynolds: in this series having him return to the role is a must with this rendition giving him more of a challenge as an actor and opening him up to more improvise to his own quick quips.

Amy Adams: having grown more as an actress and her character more as a person Having Amy return to play a more confused Mary Jane could have been more liberating and challenging to her as a performer. While Adams could really touch on more life experiences then pure imagination to play a love scorn Mary Jane discovering who she wants to be with.

May Parker: Aunt May and Uncle Ben took care of their nephew, Peter Parker. After Uncle Ben was shot and killed by a carjacker, Peter and May shared their grief for Uncle Ben.

Nancy Allen: Allen back to play Aunt May, who due to Ben’s death is in financial turmoil. Allen has a way of escalating her character that makes her a great actress for sequels that it would be interesting to see where she took the role.

Ben Parker: Ben Parker or Uncle Ben was Peter Parker's uncle and husband of May Parker who was killed spurring Peter on to become Spider-Man.

Jeffrey DeMunn: Coming back to play the voice of reason. This time helping Peter Cope with the death, it’s those moments that make Demunn such an applicable choice for Uncle Ben, he has a way about him to really tug at the heart and understanding of a person.

Norman Osborn/Green Goblin: Norman Osborn was the founder of Oscorp and later became one of Spider-Man's first supervillains, the Green Goblin.

Ralph Fiennes: I love how Goblin became the conscience to Harry, and Fiennes performance in Red Dragon is where this would really show, being able to manipulate Harry once his mind is Broken, Fiennes would be able to do this like no other.

Harry Osborn: In grief due to his father’s death, Harry begins setting in motion an intricate plot to discover Spider-Man’s identity and gain revenge!

Jake Gyllenhaal: Having done more as an actor and having his talent expanded at this point would have been a great step up. This performance allowed a more personalization of Harry which would give Jake some time to perfect the character.

J. Jonah Jameson: Peter’s uptight anal-renitent boss, celebrating his Sons return to earth and Upcoming Wedding.

Bruce Campbell: I seriously believe he was born to play the role.

Joseph Robert Robertson: Employee to Jonah and advocate for Spider-Man.

Ernie Hudson: Hudson has the emotional resin to play the character people listen too, and feel guilty for disappointing. He’s got the style to Play Robbie and out-do his performance in the Crow.

Betty Brant: As seen in past Spider-Man comics, Betty Brant is Jameson's secretary who has a bit of a soft spot for Peter.

Bryce Dallas Howard: Returning her is just setting in a series staple. She is a fine actress who can play the “Look on the Brightside” type.

Hoffman: Jonah’s eager to please assistant.

Justin Long: Being as he’s done more comedies then serious work allowing him to grow his style in this role is a crutch for him to start out.

John Jameson: Famous astronaut son to J. Jonah Jameson and fiancé to Mary Jane Watson.

Justin Hartley: Hartley is a damn good actor who got a bit of a short coming being the actor who would wear a costume. He is the kind of person you could picture with Amy as MJ.

Doctor Otto Octavious/Doctor Octopus: Brilliant scientists on a mission to create free clean energy until the unthinkable happens and the four mechanical arms necessary to build the reactor are fused to his body. The guilt of his wife’s murder is too much causing his mind to split into fragments forcing him to recreate a more bizarre version of the reactor in an attempt to right all wrongs.

Liam Neeson: He was considered for The Goblin but I never saw him in that role. He did amazing as Ra’s and to be perfectly Honest I think he could have been a deeper, meaner, and more intimidating Doc Ock than Molina.

Rosaline Octavious: Otto’s lovely wife who dedicates her passion for arts and science to assisting her husband in changing the world.

Teri Hatcher: I love her as an actress and including her in a small, yet important role, is a good way of showing the public she’s still there.

Doctor Curt Conners: Professor at NYU, and Friend to Otto Octavius assisting him in the basic research for his reactor.

Kevin Spacy: Really I just would love to have seen him as Conners, he would have brought a great amount of humor, drama, and pizzazz to the role to make it memorable.

Mr. Ditkovitch: Peter’s money grubbing landlord.

Steve Buscemi: Like anyone would honestly doubt Steve Buscemi of not playing this role with all its humor just as good.

Ursla Ditkovich: The Daughter of Peter’s landlord, who fancies a crush on the main hero.

Alyson Hannigan: A pretty face having really started to move into a more outside world of acting this would have been a good falling back paycheck.

Theater Usher: Theater usher who refuses Peter Entrance to the play.

Ted Raimi: More obligitoryness.

Theme: Desire.

Message: Sometimes to do what’s right no matter what it might cost you.

Story: The closing chapter to Sam Raimi’s hit trilogy sees Spider-Man’s most epic adventure yet! Following the events of Spider-Man 2, with the knowledge of His best friend’s identity, Harry Osborn unleashes a plan to destroy Spider-Man’s Legacy. Enlisting the abilities of Flint Marko, irradiating him to transform him into Sandman to hunt down and torture Spider-Man. All the while Parker must face competition as Jonah Jameson has found a new Spider-Man reporter/photographer in form of Eddie Brock. But things might change for the wall crawler as Peter Parker hand-picked by Dr. Curt Conners enrolls the scholar and college protige’ Gwen Stacy in a project with the potential of using meteorite resin to create an formula to enhance body performance and rid of any venomous cells.

Now having to deal with his best friend knowing his identity, Spider-Man must attempt to keep his inner rage in check as he continues on as Spider-Man fighting off personal attacks on his family and friends and wanting to marry the love of his life.

Ryan Reynolds: This is where Ryan would have met a big challenge having fully moved into the role of Spider-Man and now having to play with the character’s dark side and explore. It really would have shown how much range Reynolds has, and considering the changes it would have been a great 3rd movie, well for me it would have been.

Amy Adams: Having her return for a final bout as MJ is necessary especially at this point in the series where we really get to see a huge character development for MJ.

May Parker: Aunt May and Uncle Ben took care of their nephew, Peter Parker. After Uncle Ben was shot and killed by a carjacker, Peter and May shared their grief for Uncle Ben.

Nancy Allen: A legend in her own right, and amazing at playing a supporting role. This film had some of the best scenes with May, really showing her as a strong woman.

Ben Parker: Ben Parker or Uncle Ben was Peter Parker's uncle and husband of May Parker who was killed spurring Peter on to become Spider-Man.

Jeffrey DeMunn: One of the many cameos this movie featured, Demunn is just a great choice who really embodies what Ben Parker is.

Norman Osborn/Green Goblin : Norman Osborn was the founder of Oscorp and later became one of Spider-Man's first supervillains, the Green Goblin.

Ralph Fiennes: Another amazing cameo as Norman returns to tug the strings of control he has over his son’s psyche transforming him into the New Goblin.

Harry Osborn: Having realized the identity of Spider-Man his plans have moved into motion, having set up a Prison break for Rykers assisting Flint Marko in his escape and irradiating him so that he could transform into a super criminal and take revenge on Spider-Man, but will his love for his friends teach him the errors of his ways before it’s too late.

Jake Gyllenhaal: This is a physical role that could have shown how great an actor Gyllenhaal is. He really has a moving through his lines and delving into a character to express a sense of weakness through strength.

Flash Thompson: Now an Iraq soldier, finding his life after having Spider-Man teach him to fight back.

Jensen Ackles: Honestly this is just a fitting cameo.

J. Jonah Jameson: Peter’s vindictive Boss, who’s attempting to show Spider-Man off as the killer he is.

Bruce Campbell: C’mon he’s just absolutely perfect, he has a critical voice and hurls insults like no other!

Joseph Robert Robertson: Spider-Man’s biggest supporter and one of the Daily Bugle staff members who, in this version sticks up for Brock before Jonah fires him, while also noticing the change in Peter’s attitude.

Ernie Hudson: He’s just got the emotional ambiance to really carry the role.

Betty Brant: As seen in past Spider-Man comics, Betty Brant is Jameson's secretary who has a bit of a soft spot for Peter.

Bryce Dallas Howard: Another bit part that works wonderfully into the story, featuring Brant during the “Radical” period. Bryce is a great actress and can really pull of the sweet heart inside of Ms. Brant.

Hoffman: Jonah’s assistant.
Justin Long: He is a hilarious actor who just does well serving the story, especially with the small role he has in this film.

Doctor Curt Conners: Peter’s mentor who along with Peter and Gwen uses meteorite fragments to create something known as the suit, a scientific miracle that takes the natural resources of the body and enhances them to superhuman qualities, but not without its own vulnerabilities such as sound and fire. Unknown to him that when peter takes a fragment of the suit it causes it to evolve into a parasitic being known as Venom!

Kevin Spacy: with this rendition planting seeds for The Lizard in the non-existent Spider-Man 4, and giving him a more expanded role and assisting in creating the Symbiot, having Spacy really pays off, as he is a great actor and that could really add into his more intelligent roles.

Mr. Ditkovitch: Peter’s vindictive Landlord.

Steve Buscemi: I love Buscemi and to be honest he would be hilarious and entertaining.

Ursla Ditkovich: The Daughter of Peter’s Landlord, who manages a crush on Peter.

Alyson Hannigan: Again another sweet cameo for her to give her a steady check and add more to her resume than American Pie and How I Met Your Mother.

Gwen Stacy: Peter’s lab partner, Eddie Brock’s Girlfriend, and daughter of Police Captain George Stacy.

Elizabeth Banks: She’s a very sweet and intellectual person and her roles really show the opposite of her natural persona, Honestly I could see her being a great Gwen Stacy, especially in this very different Spider-Man 3.

Captain George Stacy: Police Captain alerts Spider-Man in order to form a hush, hush alliance in return for Spider-Man to bring Sandman back behind bars.

James Remar: I love him on Dexter, he does an amazing job playing a concerned parent, and the dark passenger, obviously the latter wouldn’t be any part of his role as Captain Stacy but he would still be a great addition.

Eddie Brock/Venom: Reporter for the Daily Planet, writing the stories to Peter’s Photos, an initial Spider-Man Supporter until Spider-Man had got him fired by preventing him from witnessing the Sandman Heist, enforcing Brock to Hate Spider-Man. As an act of Fate the two met unknowingly at the Church and as Peter attempted to Liberate himself of the Black suit, it found a new recipient – Eddie, transforming him from a hero into the villain VENOM.

Liev Schreiber: I’ll be the first, and probably only, to say that Topher Grace {Fricken} rocked as Venom! I enjoyed his performance thoroughly. Now with Liev as Brock I was aiming to cast someone more in-line with David Michelinie’s Eddie Brock, More comic accurate in presence and physique. Honestly His turn as Sabretooth is really a great performance and shows that he would have been infinitely better and darker venom. He’s got the height to tower over Reynolds, a larger, more muscular physique and a very deeper voice. He would have been effective as venom.

Flint Marko/Sandman: An escaped convict given powers by Harry Osborn, hunting Spider-Man down in order to exact revenge for his partner’s Murder.

Jeffrey Donovan: I love Donovan as an actor, he’s done some Dynamite work on Burn Notice and really hasn’t been noticed as the great actor he is. He would be a wonderful addition as Sandman, playing a more brutish, revenge driven villain and a less sympathetic villain.

Dennis Carradine: Emma Marko’s Ex-Husband and Flint Marko’s best friend, who robbed the wrestling event in order to pay for his daughter’s Chemo Therapy.

Doug Hutchison: Returning him as the Man who killed Uncle Ben, instead of Sandman, would have been a nice touch especially to change the story up a bit to fit a more form fitting characterization to evolve this character from a random petty crook to a much darker version of Ben Parker.

Penny Marko: Flint Marko’s niece, having gotten better do to the Chemo therapy generously paid for by Harry Osborn in order to ensure Flint Marko’s Cooperation.

Madelyn Sweenten: Since at the time Everybody Loves Raymond was done, she needed a new job, and this would have been a great job for her to get her career going.

Emma Marko: Dennis Carradine’s ex-wife, ashamed at her Brother Flint for letting him get killed, holds resentment against Flint.

Maria Bello: Just a very dramatic actress who could have really played this role up.

Maitre’D: The restaurant host to which Peter schemes asking the big question to Mary Jane.

Ted Raimi: A wonderful part of the film, that had originally had Bruce Campbell in the role, in this version It would have fit better for Raimi to play the French Maitre’D.

Wow, this is really tough. I figured you'd rather do what ager did and not only recast the characters, but have new storylines.

Also, Ryan Reynolds as Peter Parker? Despite your reasonings, that's a miscast upon miscasts. I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Adam Brody.

The other choices I don't mind. Amy Adams is slightly hotter than Kirsten Dunst, and has a classic vibe to her. Although, Elisha Cuthbert looked a bit like Mary Jane Watson based on John Romita's artwork of MJ.

And I like that you used Ernie Hudson as Robbie. I had the same choice back in '10 before Darkseid himself Andre Braugher swayed me.

Rest of the picks are good, BTW.

Not bad casting. Although for Jameson and Hoffman, after seeing the original trilogy, I don't think anyone can pull off the comedic chemistry like those two did. It was hilarious, I loved it and still do. Also, I like the idea of Reynolds as Spidey but I prefer him as Deadpool. He (in my opinion) was born to be the perfect Deadpool.

Yea I agree with RoadDog. You could of changed the story line, but all the same Good job man. Casting wise seem solid to me but Ryan is better for Deadpool (just saying). Spider-man 3 sucked because of the story it was to corny and lame like the cartoon.

Not a bad idea you have here. I did like JK Simmons's performance as JJJ, but yeah, the rest could've used some improvement in the actual films. (Also, never was a huge fan of the metallic look of the costume, and the organic webshooters.)

When you have a minute, check out my latest fancast: "The Defenders: The Animated Series".

I like it A LOT!. Instead of Ryan Reynolds how about JGL (Joseph Gordon Levitt). I assumed you casted the people based on their ages in the times when the movies came out. Back then JGL was 21.

read the character descriptions and the mini syps you can see there is changes i just kept the characters. and i cast based on who i felt could have done the roles justice.

This is awesome! I actually like the idea of Reynolds. The only choices I'm not so sure about are your Doc Ock and Sandman. I'd prefer Stellan Skarsgard as Doc Ock and Adam Baldwin as Sandman but that's just me. Great cast anyway!

So, I really like ur fancast. Only thing is, Reynolds isn't dorky enough for Peter. I mean for Spidey he's fine but Peter, not so much.

Now that I think about it, Justin Long would make a good Spidey, actually.

I'm probably one of the few on this website who likes Ryan Reynolds, but though he has the humor down to a T he's to handsome for nerdy Peter. But I still wldnt mind. This is an intresting idea, I love it! Great cast!

I dont think ppl are attacking Reynolds as an actor here, rather Reynolds as Spidey. like the consensus, he's too cool for the dorky hero. Like DaRaginScotsman@ said, im surprised you didnt go with Long as ur Parker.

Im also suprised you went, still, with an older cast. thats weird to me.

In my recast/revision, RoadDogXXIV@ mentioned, i went with the 21-year-old JGL, with his peers being within that age range, playing high school seniors.

The rest of the cast is Ok, more or less, with bit players getting an odd amount of attention

Especially Venom and Sandman.

Nice job ROBERT@!

But RYAN REYNOLDS back then was too cool for the nerdy,
social outsider PETER PARKER, like others have said here.

Gotta agree with THE SCOTSMAN@, JUSTIN LONG fits better.
Actually that's a darn great idea!
lol

I really didn't like the campy performance of ROWLING as
JJJ. I'd rather see a non-camp, more serious JJJ.

But well put together Casting ROBERT@.
And some nice choices here.
