Should Civil War Be The Premise For THE AVENGERS 3

Should this be The Avengers 3?

It's no secret that Marvel's The Avengers was a boxoffice smash, a worldwide hit and yes even with as unique as it is (for the most part) it does have it's flaws. Phase 2 as we all know are the following: Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Guardians of the Galaxy and Antman. Okay, that last one is a bit weak in my opinion but it is a decent set up for The Avengers 2. Pretty much everyone on here has the idea that Thanos is the villain in the sequel, which I'm sure we're all right. But, after the cosmic movies are done, what would be Avengers 3? In my opinion, I agree with Keven Feige. I think Avengers 3 would be a good time to use the Civil War storyline as the basis of the film.

Take the time while you read this article and think about it, Avengers set up for a cosmic universe which leads to Thanos which is possibly and logically the villain for Avengers 2. After Avengers 2, there should only be one storyline for Avengers 3, the Civil War. What could be more perfect that screams EPIC, than a finale that could be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 but for superheros? My idea is to have more movies than phase's 1 and 2 as the build up for Avengers 3. No more Iron Man movies, but have him appear in maybe Captain America 3 or maybe have Captain America appear in Black Panther. But throw out more movies, have more characters exposed and after you have the films, then start the production and marketing for Civil War. Don't call it Avengers 3, though. They should title it, Marvel's Civil War. The entire marketing should have fans excited and the casual movie goers split between Captain America and Iron Man. There is no storyline more fit, in my opinion. Also, if Marvel is seriously considering having Spider-Man as part of their universe, have The Amazing Spider-Man trilogy end then have him be part of the build up cause Spider-Man is a major character in the Civil War.

Alot of people may ask the following "If Civil War could work, who would be best fit for the directors chair"? For me it's simple, bring back Joss Whedon one last time. Have him not only direct but also write and MAYBE have him help produce. Cause if done right, this COULD be one of the most anticipated and biggest films of all time.

What do you think? Be respectful as you comment below.

Honestly, I just think that without Spider-Man and the introduction of a lot of other characters, Civil War is extremely difficult to adapt. First major turning point was Spidey revealing himself. 2nd major turning point was clone Thor killing Goliath. Without these events, much of Civil War changes. Introducing the Illuminati would practically be a must for everything to make sense. I'm just not sure that Civil War is a place they are capable of going.

I have no Idea how they will put it all in one movie. Maybe build it up a bit in Avengers 2 and maybe a little in cap 3. I just wanna see it!!!! Team Cap all the way.

With out establishing more characters I don't know how they could do this.

Civil War was incredibly dark though, from start to end, would that really go over well with audiences?

Also, one of the biggest events of it was Spiderman revealing his identity... who do we have in the current roster that could replicate that moment?

at the end of the day as much as i loved the civil war story arch and how the MCU has been made over the years but unless its over at least 2 films and Marvel studios had all the rights it would be a complete injustice. i feel to be a success you need the turning points dark themes but most definitly the wide range of all the characters! plus i dont feel that the MCU tony stark would join the side of the registration act, and not to mention that all the characters are pretty much known to the public anyway

Wouldn't work without Spiderman. He is the most important element in my opinion.

Joss did well with Avengers and everything but you can't go running to him everytime there's a super-hero movie to make.

Personally yes, I would love Avengers III to be Civil War, but when you think about the missing characters that would have to be introduced for a faithful reproduction of the storyline *its pretty obvious that a Civil War storyline would have to be less grand a scale with less characters involved than the graphic novel* and instead just be about the central team fracturing, fighting, breaking up and taking sides.

*Fantastic Four, Daredevil, The Punisher, Namor, Dr Strange, Venom, Green Goblin, Ant-Man - they are all chess-pieces not yet in place in Feige's Marvel Cinematic Universe masterplan.

...And damn RDJ and Co would be getting by the time thats all in there.

So yeah, Civil War-lite™ or a storyline loosely based on it will most probably be the answer.

It's a nice wish. It's impractical in terms of cost. It would require two to three times as many heroes as are in play now.

Masters of Evil is a more realistic goal.

Besides, look at "X3: The Last Stand." It's essentially the same storyline adapted to The Avengers. Sure, it could be done better. Would it have time to cultivate the drama that would make the all out slug-fest worth watching? I have deep doubts.

It might be nice, and far more practical in terms of budget and the fact that the current Avenger actors will be ageing past their prime at the point where a civil-war storyline would be do-able... to CGI scan all of them, have them voice their parts on a CGI Civil War trilogy. By then it would probably be 2020 anyways and the CGI will most probably be indistinguishable from reality.

There is already an article doing the rounds from the LucasArts CGI that did the StarWars 1313 FMV were they say that a mere 10 years from now CGI will be indistinguishable from live-action, so just saying... times a factor and there are potential alternative options on the table.

Don't see it happening in Phase 3 at least. There are too many characters that aren't introduced or owned by Marvel. And besides, killing off Captain America would be a HUGE risk that could alienate casual viewers.

It shouldn't be, but it probably will. If Marvel was smart they would make an animated trilogy based on Civil War. At least then they could use all the characters.

Civil War would not work. Thanos is going to take up most of Part 2 and Part 3. Why introduce Thanos at the end Part One if you are just going to scrap him for Part 3? Here is how I think Part 2 and Part 3 will pan out:

Thor: The Dark World- Assault by Dark Elves, lead by Thanos, on Asgard for the Cube and the Gaunlet.

Avengers 2- Thanos finds all the soul gems, has the Infinity Gauntlet and defeats Avengers. Avengers are left battered at the end of Part 2.

Avengers 3- The SuperHeroes come back and assault Thanos for the final battle.
