The Amazing Spider-Man: Trilogy or more?

How far should The Amazing Spider-Man films go?

The Amazing Spider-Man is the most under-rated mainstream superhero made yet. The sequel writers are James Vanderbilt, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. This has potentional to be either a hit or miss mostly due to Kurtzman and Orci (I think I am the only one on this site that really enjoyed the Transformers movies, not so much Revenge of the Fallen but it's still fun). The Amazing Spider-Man is a movie that has tons of chemistry between the actors, no matter how thin the romance was. It also had a great villain that is very under-rated despite being a fan favorite.

It has been confirmed that The Amazing Spider-Man will spawn at least two sequels and at most five sequels and will possibly crossover to The Avengers. NO! To The Avengers. NO! To a total of 6 movies. This Spider-Man does NOT fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also 6 movies will get tiring. People are mad enough at a sequel and are slowly getting tired of Spider-Man, don't make them sick of him. But, I do have an idea on where this trilogy should go and if they don't go my route what characters should be introduced. My idea is have the Green Goblin be the villain in the next movie and kill of Gwen Stacy while also introducing the symbiote (Eddie Brock would be a sub plot). Kill of Gwen obviously, have the symbiote attach itself to Spidey shortly after. Have Spider-Man and Green Goblin have a huge final battle. Shortly after the Goblin's death, have Peter get rid of the suit due to feeling guilty over Norman's death. The final two scenes of the movie is Gwen's death and the origin of Venom. Before Spider-Man has the final confrontation with Goblin, have Connors play a part in the explination of the symbiote.

Then in the final film have Peter grieve over Gwens death and have Aunt May try to get Peter to go on a blind date with the girl next door. Connors play a big part in the movie as he helps Spider-Man learn more about the symbiote and Venom be an antihero trying to convince New York that Spider-Man is the villain. Even going as far as Venom nearly killing Spider-Man in their first encounter. The main plot of the movie is Peter trying to figure out what they died for that was so important to leave him with his Aunt and Uncle. Have the final battle take place on the Brooklyn Bridge and have a huge fiery explosion kill Venom with Spider-Man barely escaping with his life. End the movie with Peter finally accepting the date that night. The final scene being the following night and the girl next door is at the door, Peter answers it and is revealed to be Mary Jane Watson and the last line of the movie being "Face it tiger, you hit the jackpot".

Now, I am out of story and plot ideas for the sequels but I know the main character I want to see finally debut in a Spider-Man movie and that is Black Cat. Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man movie has the personality of the comics and would have great chemistry with Black Cat depending if they get a good actress to play the part.

That's pretty much it. What do you think? Comment below, be respectful and nice about it.

Your villain formula is one being used a lot now.

Start off with a good villain.

Then have the evillest villain and the arch nemesis of the hero.

Then have the stronger and badass villain in the finale.

@Darklypse: I wasn't paying attention to the formula, I was trying to think what could be the best possible villains and ideas for the rest of the trilogy. I felt with the Death of Gwen Stacy, it needed to stay traditional and be the Green Goblin and I felt that Venom deserves to be a stand alone villain in a Spider-Man film and I think it would be a good way to end it. I think my ideas (if written right because my ideas I feel aren't elaborate enough) could really top the original trilogy but I just want a good trilogy as a whole where every movie is good.

I apologize to people who read the editorial because I said "People are already mad at a sequel" I ment to say reboot. So again, sorry

@jpfola26: thank you and again I really wasn't paying attention to the formula. For Venom, I wanted a good villain that I know could end the trilogy on a epic note and also I feel he deserves a better treatment on film.

@Darklypse actually if you think about it, the first villain is a mentor who becomes a villain - Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins, Dr Conners in The Amazing Spider-Man, the second is the insane freak who causes the most emotional pain for the hero (Joker in TDK, Green Goblin in this idea for TASM2), then the brutally strong evil mirror version of the hero (Bane in TDKR, Venom in this idea for TASM3).

However, this villain structure is one I thought of too when I first heard Gwen would be in the film and Lizard would be the villain. But I thought it should be more than a trilogy, perhaps 4 or 5 films, the sequel would deal with Goblin killing Gwen and escaping, the third would have the symbiote attach to Peter while he mourns Gwen's death and he then seeks revenge, killing the Goblin by accident and removing the symbiote, setting up Venom for the fourth film. Venom in the fourth film, and maybe Venom and Carnage in the fifth.

True. But I think the Green Goblin and Gwen's death will be great.

I like the amazing spider man but would prefer for marvel to have, well ALL their properties.

I think they should develop Gwen rather than keep the audience on the edge of their seat waiting for her neck to break.

She'll be a casualty, but I don't think her death should be as FOCUSED as fans are making it out to be.

Also, Spider-man should find the Sinister Six. The Anti-Spider-man squad. Move away from Raimi's movies or GTFO.

I'm sorry but no matter how many Spider-Man movies they have to build up the Sinister Six or any other group of villains clearly hasn't learned from Spider-Man 3

Uh, Star Trek....

@Darklypse- That's exactly what Nolan did with his Bat-trilogy.

Start off with a good villain- Ras Al Ghul in Batman Begins (Liam Neeson was [frick]ing brilliant as Ras)

Then have the evillest villain and the arch nemesis of the hero- Joker in TDK

Then have the stronger and badass villain in the finale- Bane. Plain and simple.

Stopping at three films with a superhero franchise is a stupid idea. Yes, TDKR being the ending was a stupid idea.

Superhero stories by their very nature are a neverending product. You keep going.

And don't give the shitty "how many good 3rd or 4th films can you name" argument.

That is an issue of effort and quality. We here are talking about duration.

X-Men First Class, Harry Potter, James Bond, Star Trek.

They can make good franchise movies that aren't part 1-2, so long as they [frick]ing try.

Having the trilogy end off with MJ at the door delivering her catchphrase would be Legendary. Gives sort of a DKR ending feel to the movie.

I also agree with you. Nolans villain style as Darklypse pointed out should be used for all superhero trilogies.

Great article.

@lokibane2012: Harry Potter already had it's story set up, never got into James Bond so quite frankly I could care less about that series, X-Men First Class worked because not only a good writing team, director and cast but also because it was a reboot/prequel. I don't know jack about Star Trek so therefore I don't have a comment there.

Seriously, is it a crime for a fan to not want a main part of the franchise/series to go farther than 3 films after the atrocities that are Batman & Robin and most of the Superman films.

@TheLizard1

You don't have to have seen any Star Trek series to understand the movies ONE BIT. Point is, they have a LARGE cast - a full crew including two helmsmen, the captain, the first officer, the comms officer, and the doctor - not to mention the passengers aboard and honorary crew.

If you are going by the movies (and come on, the entire worldwide audience is NOT made up of Trekkies) you'll have the characters introduced to you by their duties, their interactions with the crew, their personality quirks, etc.... you don't learn their origin stories, and with the exception of the reboot Star Trek movie, you'll never learn how they were all assigned to the Enterprise.

With X-Men, you know that all the mutants get their superpowers from their mutations. The first movie gave only TWO origin stories (barely) for both Rogue and Magneto, while the rest simply demonstrate what they can do. Do you need Jean's social security number? Need to see Scott's diploma? No. And it WORKS.

The Sinister Six don't need to have an origin story. We don't need to see how Electro gets his powers, how Mysterio was a special effects artist, how the Vulture financed his wings from his own company, how Kraven got high on herbs, how Sandman got all dirty, how Doc Ock got arms fused to his sides... they just do. They are TOOLS for the plot, not the other way around.

@Tainted87: I still don't like the idea of the Sinister Six in a Spider-Man movie, especially as plot devices. Why do you not feel the same considering that Spider-Man 3 had three villains and screwed up. It worries me because of that. I wouldn't risk it. I think that trilogies are the best way to go with comicbook movies as far as the main part of it goes because going farther than that is asking for another Batman & Robin in my eyes

Tainted87 - 9/26/2012, 7:50 PM
Everything is a plot device - CBMs are no different. Spider-man 3 suffered because the three villains were completely and utterly isolated from each other.

You could have a movie completely dedicated to that movie's Sandman, that movie's Harry Osborn, that movie's Venom. They barely acknowledge each other's existence to the point where it's likely the actors weren't even on set together at all during filming.

Have you seen the movie Heat? Imagine that, with superpowers.

Sinister Six would have these guys group together to take down Spider-man, to back each other up as an unstoppable force. They'd have more than just Spider-man in common, and function as a successful and competent crew.

You're starting to make sense but I still say stick to it as a trilogy.
