Alternate FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER Scenes

Yesterday, Film Sketchr posted storyboards of unused scenes for Tim Story's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and today, they've posted storyboards that are a bit different from the theatrical versions.

As I was saying, storyboard artist Darrin Denlinger supplied Film Sketchr with some great Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer storyboards of unused scenes, and today Darrin sent over storyboards of scenes that appeared in the film, but were tweaked from his original drawings. In most cases, budget concerns forced the more spectacular elements to get the axe. Boo!

The set of images are of the first wedding scene. In the theatrical version Silver Surfer's presence is detected and all hell breaks loose, such as a helicopter crashing on the top of the Baxter Building - where the wedding is taking place. Sue uses her super-powers to stop the copter from harming her and her guests, then The Thing rips the tails off the copter to stop the blades from harming his Scandalously-blind girlfriend.

In the storyboards below, this scene is a bit different as military soldiers/snipers are shown protecting the event, and then Silver Surfer actually shows up, not just his presence. He causes the soldiers/snipers to fall from buildings nearby and Reed has to stretch out like a trampoline to catch them. Then Reed has to become a parachute to catch a falling helicopter. Instead of a helicopter barrelling toward Sue and her guests, she is actually attacked by the Silver Surfer and uses her powers to protect her and her guests. That's a pretty big difference. To see all of the storyboards for these alternate scenes click here.

Next image includes a small addition to the Silver Surfer/Johnny Storm (Human Torch) chase sequence which happens right after the wedding scene. No real big changes here.

The fourth image below, is of the London Eye scene. A slight tweak here. Ben/The Thing in the theatrical version actually picks up the ferris wheel during this rescue scene, but in the storyboards he uses Reed's flexible body.

The final set of images is of the scene in which Sue and Reed have an argument and Sue uses her powers on Reed. This plays out a lot like the theatrical version, which you can see in the video below, but it would've included more sight gags - more visual effects.

Do they have an alternate movie as well?

....I'm scared to ask nailbiter what his favorite Fantastic Four movie is. It's like asking Gusto what his favorite Green Lantern movie is, but he can only pick live action films.

Is there a Galactus that wasn't a cloud? Or a movie that was good?

I belive the origin of this Galactus was Uranus.

I wish they could make a new F4-movie, but with less costumes and more grounded in reality, because that is what was wrong with this... Oh, and could you please wrap Dr Doom in a plastic bag and dont actually call them Fantastic 4 too?

@Wooza
The Galactus being a cloud wasnt entirely their the whole time, one idea was that the cloud was merely an exterior form for him and that inside the cloud would actually have Galactus, a similar concept to him being inside his robot body in the animated series. This was hinted when we see Galactus's face inside the cloud. Yet, the idea was dropped and a planned Silver Surfur spin-off would have established him as more of a celestial being.

I don't understand why people complained about the F4 movies not being realistic enough. How the hell do you do that with characters that have powers that are in no way resemble reality. If you ask most boys under 10 that watched the F4 movies, they really liked them and they were entertaining. I know because I have two sons under 10 that thought they were awesome. Lets stop trying to turn every comic book franchise into a Christopher Nolan film so 25 year old male douche bags have a comic book movie to watch.

It's best to pretend this movie never happened.
