Is Hal Jordan Appearing In 'ARROW' Season 2?

A new interview with Roy Harper actor Colton Haynes gives us our biggest clue yet to which DC Comics icon(s) will have a cameo in the upcoming second season of The CW's "Arrow." It's reportedly a character from a prior DC Comics film adaptation.

"Arrow's" Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) discusses the upcoming second season of The CW's smash-hit drama. While touching on a number of topics, the conversation gets interesting when Haynes starts discussing which well-known DC Comics characters will be popping up this season. Previously, series star Stephen Amell stated that a DC Comics character more familiar than Green Arrow would be appearing in Season 2. Now we have another clue from Colton, "There's going to be some new characters, I'm sure you guys have read, that are going to be joining, some very very well known characters that have been in prior movies so I think it's going to be exciting to see," added the potential Green Arrow sidekick. That tidbit narrows down the possibilities quite a bit. The most recent DC Comics adaptations have been for Batman, Superman and Green Lantern (Jonah Hex and Catwoman as well but come on...). Haynes continued, "I think it's going to be exciting to see who they cast as those people or if they can get some of the people from the actual movies that have played them."

Unless The CW is really going to surprise us and connect the show with "Man of Steel," I believe we're probably looking at some Hal Jordan/ Carol Ferris guest spots this season. There's even a bit of foreshadowing for such a cameo based on some easter eggs from the first season. Keep in mind, this is far from confirmation but if I had to bet the house on someone, it would definitely be Green Lantern at this point, albeit maybe in just his civilian guise as Hal Jordan.

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

"characters that have been in prior movies" - someone from realistic "Batman" movies. Victor Zsasz, Maroney, Alfred, James Gordon, William Earle (again let's Rutger Hauer play him! He is now in "True Blood" tv-show!).

I even could more belive in Wayne appears himself in "Arrow" than belive in Hal Jordan or other super-powers in this 100% dark-realistic tv-series.

If they add super-powers to the show... why they made a so bad less-powers adaptations of Vertigo and Royal Flash Gang??? No any Green Lantern in "Arrow", 100%, no chance!

Don't see the purpose in this especially since Arrow doesn't fight anyone super-powered. And Green Lantern the movie sucked..

Hal and Batman would be best with Arrow. (Hal and Ollie had an ongoing series)

or a Carol Ferris or Alfred cameo or even Dick Grayson?

And for villains? I could see like catwoman, The Penguin, Riddler, or some crime bosses (Maroni, Falcone)

Great show, I hope they do tie this in with MOS. I do agree with SoundWave they have already gone down a path of a world with no superpowers, to back track now and have heroes or villains with powers will be hard to pull off.

If it's Hal Jordan Pre-Abin Sur, it'll be fine

Ferris Air was the plane that Fayes was going to bring down. So it's going to be Hal Jordan/Carol Ferris.

Bludhaven was also mentioned so Nightwing is a possibility too.

Also wouldn't they be stepping on other companies "rights" to the heroes?

People are speaking nonsense here.

Perry White clearly states in Man of Steel very emphatically "Do you know what people would think if they knew a man who could fly was out there?". Something to that effect anyway.

This CLEARLY illustrates that prior Man of Steel, there WERE NO MAJOR Supernatural occurrences.

People saying Arrow has cemented itself in the real world are right. It has.

That doesn't mean superpowers can't find its way to the show.

Especially if MoS takes place between seasons 1 and 2.

WB/DC really screwed up with Arrow. Tried copying Nolan's take on Batman, switching Batman with Green Arrow, and now they can't use any actually superpowered characters. Or characters they plan on introducing in movies in their new "universe".

I'd love it if they could bring Blake Lively back as Carol

But I very much doubt she'd return to TV so soon.

Martian, until you've seen more than 10 episodes of the show, you have no room to talk.

Can anyone cite one live action comic book TV show they like then?

Arrow is developing into the comic Arrow. He's intended to be in a different place right now for christs sakes.

Agreed @ wonderer.

I'd never considered Catwoman, but Selina Kyle would actually be an awesome recurring character in this universe. She'd be the one woman who wouldn't be interested in Ollie as anything more than a mark. If he tried putting the moves on her, she could make some comment about the only man for her being the scary guy in Gotham, or some other such nonsense. I know there is no way Anne Hathaway would reprise the role on any TV show, let alone one on the CW, but that would be pretty fantastic.

Arrow is going in the right direction. This season you'll see GA emerge, there has not been any mention on the show that other occurrences, super or otherwise have been happening. They can find a way to bring super powers into this show, just have to do it as reasonably as possible.

I wouldn't be suprised if its hal, but I would rather have a badass kato/Green arrow team up. In the classic heroes fight, then team up type of story. I guess you could throw green hornet in it also. Just have GA try to hunt down GH/Kato, thinking that they are criminals, just to find out they are really good guys.

Supershadowbat - 7/17/2013, 7:34 AM
@fortycals, the GH/Kato scenario is a nice idea, but will not likely happen. Green Hornet is not a WB property.

Nevermind they nailed Malcolm merlyn and Slade Wilson. Also, that Deathstroke design!? So inaccurate right?
