Edward James Olmos: The Green Hornet is "Coming Together"

Delay after delay has plagued the production of Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet movie, but Edward James Olmos said Rogen is "doing a wonderful job."

News about Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet has finally been trickling out after months and months of rumors and false-starts. Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) was initially in as director and was to play Kato, but then he bounced. Nic Cage was in as the Green Hornet's nemesis, but then he bounced, saying that the character was too one-dimensional. Cage was quickly replaced by the addition of Christoph Waltz of Inglourious Basterds fame to the cast.

Edward James Olmos was also a late addition to the cast. He brings his considerable talents to The Green Hornet as Michael Axford, a reporter at the 'Daily Sentinel,' the newspaper that Britt Reid, AKA The Green Hornet, publishes with his father. Olmos said:

"It took a while, but things are finally coming together. I think it’s going to be very exciting. People will find that it’s different than what they expect. Seth is doing a wonderful job. There’s a lot of everything. It’s going to be action-filled, and there’s a lot of humor in the situations. It’s really a well-crafted piece of work. Hopefully people will enjoy it and we’ll have a few of these films."

Key word "humor". The only good part of this so far has been Olmos himself. Hopefully we'll be blown away. Way i see it is that it has no way to go but "up".

oh come on the original show was just as campy as the adam west batman. Perhaps the radio dramas were dark and moody, I don't know I've never heard copies, but the show was a corny laugh fest like batman. All the sight gags and bad puns are the same, the only thing to differentiate the two was that out of the green hornet rose an actual action icon: Bruce Lee. This is a dull property so whatever seth does to it will undoubtedly be an improvement.

I don't think I've seen Edward James Olmos in a movie since stand and deliver. It's good to see him back, but not in such a stupid movie

wards-Looks like someone left an apple on the radiator over night. But seriously, Olmos is a great actor who will only serve to give this movie credibility. I think this movie is gonna kick ass!

I am curious to see what Gondry will do with this project, because he really is an original. What I fear is that this is more of a studio and star driven project than a director driven project. Think about it: If it's not a laugh out loud comedy, then the Seth Rogen fans are surely going to go online the next day saying how much it sucked. And if it's a quirky little film like "Be Kind Rewind" it may not find an audience at all, and the studio will scratching their heads trying to figure out how to market the damn thing.
