News about
Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet has finally been trickling out after months and months of rumors and false-starts.
Stephen Chow (
Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) was initially in as director and was to play Kato, but then he bounced.
Nic Cage was in as the Green Hornet's nemesis, but then he bounced, saying that the character was too one-dimensional. Cage was quickly replaced by the addition of
Christoph Waltz of
Inglourious Basterds fame to the cast.
Edward James Olmos was also a late addition to the cast. He brings his considerable talents to
The Green Hornet as Michael Axford, a reporter at the 'Daily Sentinel,' the newspaper that Britt Reid, AKA The Green Hornet, publishes with his father. Olmos said:
"It took a while, but things are finally coming together. I think it’s going to be very exciting. People will find that it’s different than what they expect. Seth is doing a wonderful job. There’s a lot of everything. It’s going to be action-filled, and there’s a lot of humor in the situations. It’s really a well-crafted piece of work. Hopefully people will enjoy it and we’ll have a few of these films."
