Whether you think actor Seth Rogen should be donning a green domino mask and fighting crime as The Green Hornet or not, Rogen has some cache in Hollywood thanks to Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, Superbad and other comedy hits. Even though he's at the top of his game right now, there was still one thing that Rogen always wanted to do: write an episode of the long-running cartoon The Simpsons.

Rogen co-wrote this season's premiere episode, the 21st season of the cartoon series, making him only the second guest-writer/actor, after Ricky Gervais. The episode airs tonight on Fox at 8:00 p.m. EDT.

Said Rogen:

As a writer, it always seemed like the Holy Grail. I can die a happy man now."

The episode, titled "Homer the Whopper," makes light of Rogen's fitness regime for The Green Hornet and features Rogen as a trainer who is supposed to get Homer in shape to play the superhero "Everyman."

"We wanted to comment on how Hollywood generally ruins [comic book] movies. The whole joke is Homer is cast to play a guy who's an everyman and they try to make him into this physically fit guy."

Rogen said that writing the show was one of the "highlights" of his life.

"It was completely surreal. I was just in shock afterward. I felt like I had gone skydiving or survived an earthquake."

That's on tonight? I'll have to check it out. I pretty much stopped watching the Simsons when I discovered Family Guy, but I'm curious to see how he plays off the whole Green Hornet-controversy-thing.

Seth Rogen is the best example that you don't have to be talented to be discovered by hollywood. A sure sign the world is coming to an end.

@tea: Normally, I don't editoralize, but I totally agree with you. I think it's funny that he is being accused (by CBM fans) of ruining The Green Hornet just be being in it, yet he says Hollywood "ruins" CBMs.

PINAPPLE EXPRESS, and THE MAKE A PORNO one was well funny!

Everyone hated MICHAEL KEATON for the role of BATS, till the movie was out!!

I don't think ppl should judge SETH till we actually see GREEN HORNET, coz i think its gonna be a BURTON turn-around, as everyone (well most) hate it but when i comes out, will love it!!!

An hey cool article @ BRENT! This Simpsons looks well funny!! ; )

I love how everyone is saying Seth Rogen RUINED The Green Hornet.......the film hasn't come out yet!!!....f*ckin twits!

How can you judge something you haven't even seen a preview for???

If Rogens dirty stoner comedy isn't for you......that's cool, that's your opinion and of course your entitled to it and I understand people thinking he's not suited to the role; however, you sound like idiots saying he ruined something NO ONE has seen....

hahaha...how can you have an opinion on something that isn't even something yet??

I will admit I wasn't thrilled by Rogen being cast in The Green Hornet (still am not), but I will reserve judgment until I see the film, as Talontd says. I made the same mistake with thinking Michael Keaton was brining Mr. Mom to Batman.

Prove me wrong, Seth, prove me wrong!

I have to agree with teabag and Brent - In my opinion, I wouldnt call Seth Rogen an amazing actor either (i sometimes find all the improv stuff kinda annoying especially) but he was pretty good in Pineapple Express and Zack and Miri - however, by the time i saw him in Knocked Up, the lazy stoner type character was beginning to get old and pretty repetitive!

Still, this Simpsons episode should be quite good! Ill have to find it on the net 2moro living in the UK!

Don't really like the Simpsons anymore. They don't make me laugh that much, maybe a few chuckles here and there, but it's gone way down in it's, for lack of a better word, funniness.

I agree that we should reserve judgement on Rogen as the Hornet until we get more info. All we have is some pictures of the set! That's it!

But I love Rogen's movies. He always makes me laugh.

Couldn't Rogen come up with a better name than "Everyman?" Both Marvel and DC have characters with this name already.

Ya I mean he may screw green hornet up or he may make it into a very different and great comicbook/superhero movie you know how many actors looked suspicious in the roles they got but then knocked them out of the park you know like a certain gay cowboy bein the most badass clown ever to be invented and leo dicaprio in every role after titanic a lot of people thought he would be typecasted forever but he's one of this decades best actors seth imo will do this justice he doesn't make crappy movies wether you liked him in them or not you have to admit they were hella funny whoever can watch superbad or knocked up etc. And not laugh has no sense of humor and guess what seth wrote those movies before he even got big in h-wood he may not be the real serious type but I think he can pull it off a lot of comedy actors have done really good movies in other genres just cause he's funny doesn't mean he can't play a hero from the 40's who was funny in parts anyway you guys act like playin green hornet is similar to playin a character that's so complicated that brad pitt couldn't do it the green hornet isn't soo complex that you have to be the best actor in the world to do it right seth is good and this movie imo will be at least enjoyable
