Principal photography is about to begin on Martin Campbell's superhero film
Green Lantern, though little information has yet to be released. A recent update to NOLA's website points out a location that is being prepped for the movie:
"A section of Lake Road in Madisonville will be closed intermittently on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon, as a film crew prepares to shoot scenes for a movie.
Although filming for 'Green Lantern' has not yet begun, crews from Warner Brothers will be on location to run tests with a stunt car, according to Bill Doyle, supervising location manager.
The closure will be in the vicinity of the high bridge on Lake Road between Louisiana 22 and Lake Pontchartrain, according to news release from the state highway department." With the information we've been given so far, it's not a stretch to assume where this scene could fit in. Those of you familiar with the series Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn, which the director has already stated is being used for the basis of the film, should remember this important scene:
An angry (and drunk) Hal Jordan crashes his car while speeding on the highway; which causes his best friend to become paralyzed. As apposed to all the other Green Lantern origin story arcs, Emerald Dawn showcases an extremely fallible Hal Jordan. He is depicted as a depressed and border-line cowardly person; who covers up his mistakes with excuses, anger and alcohol. It is a very realistic approach to the origins of a character that is usually shown as only haughty and brash.
What do you think? Is this test run proof that Campbell will attempt to bring one of the most controversial parts of Emerald Dawn to the big screen?
