UPDATE: March 22nd, 2010 - MTV News caught up with Berlanti at ShoWest as well; here's the video in which he gives his thoughts on why Ryan Reynolds is a great choice to portray Hal Jordan but stays relatively silent as the the effects being used for the film:

While hyping his latest film Life as We Know it on the ShoWest red carpet, Collider.com caught up with Greg Berlanti and asked a few questions regarding his involvement on Martin Campbell's Green Lantern and the rumored Flash live-action movie.

"I wrote and I'm a producer on Green Lantern, so that part's true. I was a huge comic book fan growing up; I actually went arond LA for awhile trying to get a comic book movie as a writer."

He was quickly asked if he could confirm his involvement as a directorial candiadate for WB's tentative Flash movie, "Well.. Right now we're just finishing up this film so I'm not quote certain on what I'm going to participate or do next."

When asked what audiences will take away from Green Lantern, he said, "It's got all the other accouterments that other superhero movies have, but it's got a real emotional message that his superpower comes from his will and inner strength."

Berlanti agrees that Marvel has done an amazing job of combing their superheros on film, and believes that DC is following suit: "I think they're starting to think about it that way, we had in early drafts of the script we had some of that stuff and we pulled some background stuff, but I think there are some surprises."

Be sure to check out the video below, courtesy of Collider.com, to hear more from Berlanti; including his feelings regarding the latest 3D film craze.

Yeah, Multi it would seem that way. Its so funny to see some of these people try to sidestep direct questions and they won't acknowledge anything at all when its in the early stages like this.

This dude better pick Flash as his next project. I think he'd be a perfect fit for the emotional and narrative side of the movie, and you can always hire good fx people and stunt coordinators. Do this movie, Berlanti, make it a hit, and no one will cancel one of your shows again, ever (is my guess).

A long as Flash exists in a world with actual other heroes *gasp* I'm good.

If Berlanti's a big comic fan, and has competency as a director, why not?

i don't know, you kinda have to take everything this guy said with a grain of salt. he said he thinks DC is starting to follow suit with a united movie world, but that is clearly not the case. sounds like he wrote green lantern and now he's left in the dark as to what DC is really doing...

he probably wrote in some things that had other character cameos or something, but then DC snatched up Nolan and threw that shit out the window.

LOL, I think it's funny that the director, needed "direction" to know where to look during the interview.

This guy sounds genuinely interested in the genre and he did not deny any specific involvement with Flash. Too soon to tell, but who knows ... maybe this is our guy.

I personally think Nolan has been talking sh*t. He has said that after Batman 3 he is done anyway. Its really WB/DC's call whether or not they combine the universes and its a given they have to be thinking about it. I also think Nolan's brother might be more willing to consider it. So when Berlanti says "I think they're starting to think about it that way, we had in early drafts of the script we had some of that stuff and we pulled some background stuff, but I think there are some surprises" I believe him.

I see the Nolan Films like Batman Year One or The Dark Knight comics where it was Batman's early years when Batman was by himself and there were no other super heroes. Once he is gone they can jump into later years when he can team up with other heroes and be part of the JLA and there is no reason for a reboot or origin story

Geez Multi your on steroids with articles lately.
Keep em coming! I actually have a hunch that Greg Berlanti is indeed the Flash director.
Hopefully he and Martin Campbell added cameos to GL.
I really want to see Marvel and DC have a relentless rivalry in the film business not just comics.
Avengers and the Justice League!

I have suggestions on who can play "The Scarlet Speedster" is the actor from SAVED BY THE BELL & RAISING BY THE BAR Mark-Paul Gosselaar to play "The Fastest Man Alive" and I think he can make a great acting role. How does thats sound ? That will be a great idea for Greg Berlanti to see if Mark makes that decision playing "The Fastest Man Alive" on the big screen.
