GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Director Reveals The Secret SIXTH After-Credits Scene You Didn't See

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has five scene scattered throughout the credits, but in a recent interview with USA Today, director James Gunn revealed that it was very nearly six. However, before you go getting too excited about any possible Avengers: Infinity War or Thor: Ragnarok teases, it sounds like the plan was very much for this one to be played for laughs before it was ditched.

The scene was going to feature Gef the Ravager (Steve Agee), a quirky supporting character seemingly killed by Yondu's arrow earlier in the movie which enjoying a beer. According to the site, "The director filmed a scene where heroes Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) are conversing and suddenly hear screaming." It sounds ok, but is kind of similar to the one involving Kraglin and Drax.

"We realize that Gef has been on the ship the entire time mortally wounded," Gunn explains. "It ended up being a little confusing." That's fair enough and it sounds like we should expect to now see this on the deleted scenes list when the DVD and Blu-ray are released. What do you guys think of this cut scene? As always, feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Kinda wanted a scene that would hint at infinity war. Oh well, still loved the movie

@chewie - Same. I was hoping we'd get a stinger of the Black Order being summoned. We probably have to wait til Thor to get that Stinger. Maybe Spidey

@Deonox - ya it HAS to be in ragnarok right? Right!?

Hey, guys, so, Ego, visually at least, "dies" in the film. As I said, it at least appears that way, but the movie certainly tries to convince that's the case. However, here's a quote of Gunn talking about BOTH Sly's character and Kurt's character: "This is definitely not a one-off [for them]. They’re both characters that we’ve taken a lot of time to develop, and they’re a big part of the MCU now." So, Ego is returning then? I hope so, because he was fantastic in the film, and while I do think the way he was utilized in the film works perfect for this chapter, I still believe there's more story to be told. Thoughts, anyone?

@ScarletWarlock - ya they definitely played it as though he died but who knows. Ego said he was created out of nothing so I don't see how a being like that can be killed just by destroying his brain or wherever. Who knows, maybe gunn misspoke and meant Sly would return.

@ScarletWarlock - Still think they should use his brother

@ScarletWarlock - I may be mistaken, but I believe James Gunn is speaking about Sly, and Michael Rosenbam (did I spell his name right?). He had mentioned they are going to be future players in the universe. Which is why we got that scene wkth the two of them being original Guardians. However, it is possible Ego survived. Maybe he will "save" Peter from Thanos, or in Guardians Vol. 3.

@chewie - Well, he says "They're both character that". So he says both. Either he's talking about Stallone and someone else and they mistakenly assumed or something, I don't know the context, or they're right on the money.
CaptainElrond

@ScarletWarlock - Ayesha survived.
ScarletWarlock
ScarletWarlock - 5/8/2017, 4:17 AM
@NiceBillCipher - They should use both, then. Peter still has a lot to know about his heritage, so it's a nice place to start and open up the possibilities of the story between the two.
ScarletWarlock

@ForceOfLegend - Well, fandango conducted the interview, and the context provided seems to mean that they definitely asked him about Stallone and Kurt specifically. Here's the quote and context together: "Two iconic tough-guy actors join the latest Guardians movie, with Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone both starring in pivotal roles. But is this a one-off appearance for the two of them, or will their stories continue in other MCU movies?

Gunn: This is definitely not a one-off [for them]. They’re both characters that we’ve taken a lot of time to develop, and they’re a big part of the MCU now."

So I think Ego is coming back, y'all. I certainly hope so!

@ScarletWarlock - when Stan is chatting with the watchers in the end credit scene, i might have imagined it, but it looked like you could see the classic Ego eye's and mouth in the stars behind him.

@ScarletWarlock - ego's origin reminded me of dr manhattan as far as putting himself together. So he may not be dead at all.

The Jeff Goldblum appearance is suggestive enough that there may be a connection between the films.
Scarilian

@MosquitoFarmer -

The general theory is that the Guardians have to go to Thor to convince him to help in Infinity War - and it'd be Thor as the reason why the Guardians end up meeting the Avengers.

@Scarilian - It's the time gap that Kevin Feige suggested that has me puzzled as to the timeframe of it all. He said Infinity War takes place four years after Vol. 2. But, I'd imagine that movie might span some time with the way the story unfolds or is put together.

@MosquitoFarmer -

I expect this will be the set-up going into Infinity War in regards to the GOTG;

- Nebula has disappeared (Later revealed as captured and tortured by Thanos)
- Gamora and Drax have went in search of Nebula and Thanos
- Groot is now a young adult, basically similar to how we met Peter in the first GOTG. Rocket would be trying to teach him about responsibility.
- Peter meanwhile would be leading a dysfunctional group of Guardians including Kraglin, Mantis and a young recruit in the form of Nova.

Something like that is possible, given the time gap. I guess the gap in time is to explain Groot returning to adulthood (Took 2 weeks to go from a sappling to a baby)
MosquitoFarmer
MosquitoFarmer - 5/9/2017, 7:19 PM
@Scarilian - All possible, but you sure are making a whole lot of assumptions.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 5/10/2017, 7:02 AM
@MosquitoFarmer -

I was giving an example of how it could happen. I'm not making any assumptions, i am just pointing out the obvious that with four years between GOTG2 and Avengers 3 they could set-up the characters however they want in order to make it fit with the plan for Infinity War - such as;

- Groot can be any age between a baby and an adult
- The team can include any members they desire
- The team members can be doing virtually anything or be anywhere they desire

Some of those after credit scenes I felt was pointless.
The Watchers and Stan Lee one was pointless to me.
Teenage Groot didn't do anything for me either.
