Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will finally revisit Rocket's past in order to tell his tragic origin story. We know The High Evolutionary created the talking raccoon, but the details of that promise to make for difficult viewing next month.
Bradley Cooper once again lends his voice to Rocket in this movie, of course, but writer and director James Gunn has now confirmed that he'll share acting duties with Noah Raskin as baby Rocket and Sean Gunn as young Rocket. The latter has played the character on set since 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, while Raskin is presumably an unknown child actor given how little we can find out about him online.
It's a little surprising Cooper's Rocket voice isn't being modified to portray the younger versions of the Guardian, but this casting may help those scenes feel a little more authentic.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.
Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.
