An eagle-eye shot pans over a dark city. There's a voiceover of a man muttering about destruction and saying, "I don't want to say it as a conspiracy, but..." The camera pans over what can only be an old high school, the whole thing is in flames. The windows are bursting with flames, but the camera doesn't stop there; it moves forward. Fireballs of debris litter the street, and a girl speaks in a different voiceover, "Her Mother was a fanatic. I don't know how she lived with her." The camera zooms to street level, showing more and more destruction—the town is in flames. Finally, it stops on a girl standing in front of a bonfire in the town center. It's Carrie. She's covered in blood and looks completely freaked out. The End.

"The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.”

Carrie hits theaters on March 15, 2013.

It's like the Thor poster, but, you know, lame...

I would just like to say that I've been against this reboot since the beginning. This movie could go on to win Oscars, and I'd still abhor it.

Your description is messed up, Nails. It should say "In a couple days everyone will be able to view a teaser of director Kimberly Peirce's remake of Brian De Palma's 1976 film, Carrie."

I have a thing against remakes. Everyone says they suck. This one I don't know. It would be the second remake (if anyone remembers the TV movie back in 1999 or 2000). However, I am unsure about this one. It certainly shows potential.
1. It's Stephen King. Everyone loves his work. In my opinion, this brings Carrie to the new generation of horror lovers. Plus, it will probably be modernized from when King wrote (a little modernization isn't too bad...a lot that's another story).

2. Chloe Moretz is an up and coming name. Everyone knows her as Hit Girl in Kick Ass and some even know her as Carolyn Stoddard in the Tim Burton comedy Dark Shadows. Last I looked, Chloe is 15. At this age, she can still experiment with different roles to see what fits her ability best. And she still has room to improve. I also like how the crew is using an actual teen rather than a young 20-something actress.

3. Julianne Moore...period. Moore is one of Hollywood's iconic actresses (not most iconic, but she is definitely up there). She can play a broad range of roles, and astound us with an amazing performance every time (us...not Sarah Palin...had to make the joke). Personally, I've seen nothing that can prove Moore can play the abusive psycho devout Christian mother, but I do know she can pull it off. And the photos of her on set are freakin' creepy.

Hopefully they're basing it more on the book. Besides, it's gonna be tough to match DePalma's magic.

we've had some pretty good remakes. true grit, departed, hell even scarface was a remake.

all you really need for a good remake is someone actually putting in the effort to make a good movie instead of just cashing off on the name.

the original got nominated for two oscars for acting. i wonder how good this'll be...

"I don't want to say it as a conspiracy, but..."

And I dont this film to involve conspiracies either.

The original / film book had a simple premis - picked on high school girl uses her powers to f*** cheerleader / bully over. It's simple and effective - no government / secret weapon crap.
