The last we heard about an adaptation of Max Brooks's World War Z was back in July when reported that screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan had taken over the writing duties. Now, FearNET recently spoke with Max Brooks and said that Paramount has renewed the option for the film.

It seems that the studio is committed to making the film, saying the option was for, "half the time and twice the money, so that might signal interest." Brooks also said that director Marc Forster is still attached to the project and is, "raring to go." Here's an excerpt from the interview when Brooks was asked about the budget for the film.

That's a good question, because I think the size of the book, the scope of the book, makes it hard to produce, in that this thing's gotta be done right or it just can't be done. You can't do a cheap and dirty World War Z. It's a world war, and I think that makes studio executives nervous. I think it limits its options, so that's running against it.

Brooks also said that Carnahan's draft was expected, "in a month or so."

World War Z is in development . The film is directed by Marc Forster.

Cool stuff Hulk2099! Nothin better than killing some zombies.

Can you make sure to use the source section when you are writing articles? Put the name of the site in the first box and the page address in the 2nd. It needs to be there. If you look at your Wanted 2 article, it has been fixed. Thanks

i would love to see this film happen. when i hear a film is going to be made nowadays i take it with a grain of salt. because so many times they said we are going to do this film and do not do it. or its made and they cram so much action and cheesy lines in it the films suck @$$.so hopefully they do this right could be good.

@ LEEE: Read the zombie survival guide by max brooks. Reads like stereo instructons on how to survive the zombie apocalypse. BEST BOOK EVER. Then read the World War Z book: he made it after as a first hand account from "real ppl" on the zombie war. Both awesome. Mel Brooks' family has real talent in their veins.
