Yeah its real, last time I checked Guy Ritchie was doing the movie, if its anything like his pre-madona movies it will be great, also heard something about Dr.Watson (Jude Law) would be gay in the movie, but we all know how rumors get going on the net so who knows, I haven't really looked into the movie.

Oh no. Guy Ritchie is directing this? He sucks. He tries to make all of his movies way too cool. His only good flick was Lock Stock. We get it, you think the brit mob is bad ass. Guess what? They arent bad ass. Americans are bad ass, not brits or any euros for that matter. BOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG.

much as I love watch RDJ, I will not be watching this film. I decided that Lock, Stock and Snatch were flukes and Guy Richie is actually shit. So Say We All.

yes, the soloist does look good. kinda has oscar grubbing feel to it, though.

I can see it now:

Watson: "How did you know, Sherlock?"

Holmes: "It's elementary, Watson. I used the scanner in my faceplate to detect the rising heartbeat, my audio detecting sensors to find the slight vocal inflections of a liar, and he said that he was drinking chardonnay. That was most certainly brandy.

Watson: "Umm... Robert... Your out of character. Again".

Holmes: "You keep talking like that, Watson, and no War Machine suit for you!"

Watson: "... Ok..."

RDJ knows how to play an arrogant addict, but he will need to prove the intellectual (I mean as character, not literally. Stark is smart, but not an intellectual). I think he can do it though. I look forward to this flick.

I don't really think Guy Ritchie flat out sucks. He is hit or miss with me. Snatch is one of my favorite movies. He is very good at capturing English culture, I think he will do a good job on this.

Its really Ironic....hollywood uses American actors to play british icons....Takes british blokes and gets them to play iconic american superheroes and finally takes australians mates and make them star in Old American Western Movies..Oh well....One of the first books i read was Sherlock holmes...infact i think that book got me to start reading novels and such...RDJ is the man dont get me wrong but i think he was a lousy pick to be sherlock...he looks nothing like him i mean Nothing....and considering the way a bunch of us here hate on casting decisions that look nothing like the actual characters...i'm surprised y'all are excited about this piece of crap in the making...i hope the plot and writing saves this movie cos really...i think the casting sucks!!! but thats just me...

I know that 95% of people that posted that Ritchie sux haven't seen his last two films......cuz almost nobody did! His relationship with Madge has damaged his reputation immensely! So much so that people are critiquing his work before even seeing it.

I'll give it to you that he released a couple of stinkers in collaboration with Madge, but his major motion pictures (like Revolver & Rock 'n Rolla) were good. I personally am into eastern philosophy so i thorougly enjoyed Revolver, but it's easy for the films undertones to go over the heads of most. But, I'll go as far as to say that Rock 'n Rolla was phenomenal! So when people say he sucks, it's pretty easy to guess that they are talkin out their @ss.

Understandable, but an opinion formed in ignorance isn't much of an opinion. Everyone says his "directing" sucks, then they talk about how he married Madonna. Not the plots, storylines, character dev, etc., but Madonna. C'mon!

I wouldn't have a problem if someone said, "Ritchie sux, he's all gun fights" or "He never develops characters properly", but why say he sucks at his job because of who he was married to? Especially when most have only seen 1 or 2 of his films.

Seriously, watch Rock 'n Rolla bro. You will not regret it.

Talontd i gotta tell ya, i hated Rokenrolla! And i consider myself a big film buff. I know im prob in a minority because it did get decent reviews (which is why i rented it)..but as much as i wanted to like it i just couldnt. First off it featured |Ritchies trademark cockney hardman voicover which i find supremely annoying and insulting to my intelligence in that Ritchie feels that people will be incapable of grasping the narrative without having huge chunks of exposition shoved down their throats..when the opposite is true..he is not a talented enough filmaker to convey the themes and the plot WITHOUT using the poxy voicover. That could be forgiven if the movie was good but it was just the usual formulae recycled once again..characters thrown in the mix with little or no development..set pieces springing out of nowere..In fact the movies only saving grace, and why i didnt turn it off before the end, was the performances from Butler and Elba.but as their characters were so woefully 1 dimensional it didnt even matter..im actually equally perplexed as to why you liked it as you are that people didnt! But i guess thats what its all about, if we all liked the same thing it would be a very boring world

Thankyou! That i can understand. When they say, "Ritchie Sux, he married Madonna." That just pisses me off for some reason! I'm well aware that you are among the small few of people on here that have seen as many, if not more films than I, but most people aren't like us and don't see EVERYTHING. It was easy to tell they were making their comments based on (what they know of) his personal life, not his craft.


As for why you hated it, i'm gonna watch it tonight (been meaning to watch it again since i've only seen it once) with your critiques in mind. I too, normally hate the voice over technique (you should've seen my face in the Chun-Li flick), but Ritchie seems to do it with class, dunno. I never really take it as an insult to my intelligence, however when i do hear it, it does immediately make me think cheap trick. I blaze way too much to remember plot pieces jumping out of nowhere....I just remember walking in with low expectations and walking out thinking "Nice, he's back!".

But hey, if you didn't like Lock Stock and Snatch, then your prob just not a fan of his style. Kinda like those crazy people that don't like Tarantino! ;)

I'll watch it tonight and update my opinion on this matter 2moro. Later homie.
