Fabian Wagner is an up-and-coming Director of Photography best known for shooting
Game of Thrones. He was behind some of the best episodes like Season 6's "The Battle of The Bastards". When Larry Fong, Zack Snyder's favored cinematographer, was unable to return for
Justice League, Wagner proved to be a suitable replacement.
Following a tumultuous production process, Wagner's work on the film concluded at the end of principal photography. When Joss Whedon was brought on board to oversee the reshoots, Wagner was unable to return due to scheduling difficulties. 2nd Unit Photographer Jean-Philippe Gossart handled the reshoots.
With the film having a running time of 2 hours plus the fact that Zack Snyder's films often have superior Director's Cuts, Wagner had this to say:
"This one was even shorter than I expected, so there are scenes that aren't in there. I really hope we get to see a director's cut, which will give us everything that we shot that didn't make it in. What I love about his [Snyder's] director's cuts is they are long, but he takes his time to tell the story. I've never watched any of his directors cut and thought 'This is long." Whether they are three hours long, or three hours and ten minutes, they always seemed to go quick."
While he makes a great point about Zack taking his time to tell a story, it remains to be seen whether Warner Bros. will release a Director's Cut despite the fact that there is a growing number of people who want to see it.
