JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Teases Robin Easter Egg And How He'd Use The Boy Wonder In A Future Movie

Justice League director Zack Snyder has opened up on his plans for Robin in the "Snyder Cut" of the movie coming to HBO Max, and even reveals what he'd do with the Boy Wonder in a future DCEU movie...

Zack Snyder has previously confirmed that the Dick Grayson version of Robin was killed by The Joker prior to the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, with Jared Leto signing up to reprise the role of the Clown Prince of Crime in Justice League, there's been a lot of speculation about a possible flashback to the fateful night he killed the Boy Wonder.

However, recent comments from Snyder indicated that The Joker we'll see in the "Snyder Cut" will be during the "Knightmare" sequences which take place in a world ruled by Darkseid.

Time will tell on that front, but in an interview with The Film Junkee, the filmmaker promises there will be a Robin Easter Egg of some sort in the four-hour director's cut. "There's a Robin line like...there's a Robin Easter egg in Justice League. That, I think you'll have to wait and see. I can't say exactly."

As for whether he'd like to make further use of Robin in the DCEU, Snyder added: "Would there be a plan to have more Robin? In whatever future story? There would be."

"I mean to me, the way you do a Robin story in the Justice League universe with Batman is like, drinking and remembering, and we see what happened," the filmmaker explained. "We understand who Robin was to him, and we get to experience what was the circumstances for the Joker and Robin coming together."

That would be very cool, but whether Snyder ever actually gets the chance to tell that story is hard to say. It may hinge on how well-received Zack Snyder's Justice League is on HBO Max!

Batgirl

An honorary member of the League, Barbara Gordon may not have accompanied the team on too many adventures but it was as Oracle that she was perhaps one of their greatest allies.

Barry

The Scarlet Speedster is never one to shy away from racing into action and there's a good reason why he's such a beloved and respected member of the team, not to mention its fastest.

WW

Diana Prince is arguably the heart of the Justice League not to mention one of the team's bravest and most powerful members. Simply put, the League wouldn't be the same without her.

Batman

Batman doesn't have the same amazing abilities as his superpowered teammates but he compensates for that with an impressive array of weapons, vehicles, and unparalleled fighting skills.

1. Superman

Supes

The most powerful hero in the DC Universe could tackle pretty much any threat by himself but it says a lot about him that he doesn't mind turning to his teammates - and friends - for help saving the world.

And this is the guy people want in charge of DC movies?? A guy who doesn't understand the source? Why does the only way for you to do it is "Batman has to drink and remember Robin?" That's just cheap writing

@Dredd97 - This is the asshole everyone was galmoring after MoS and two shitinfested movies then a war about DC vs Marvel just becuase they thought we were DC haters when in fact we were the true fans of DC.

Every Snyderfan was suxing his B.S while stroking his Egoballs!

I'm not sure we'll ever see Robin in a live action movie again. Matt Reeves Batverse seems too serious and grounded for a "boy wonder" lol

@KWilly - Maybe for a boy wonder, but I can still see Robin appear in that universe. Less as a sidekick, but more similar to the Iron Man/Spider-Man relation in the MCU

@bkmeijer - I have my doubts as well. Robin only works as a teenager. I completely understand the reservation about using a child to fight crime on film. Especially not ones without power, even though it was the best part of Kick-Ass. I mean, none of the Spider-Men was technically a teenager and only Holland could pass as one with the eye test. Can't go putting delusions of grandeur in the kiddos heads.

@KWilly - The trailer may have hinted at it, but Reeves is totally gonna embrace the comics.

Don’t wanna talk about it in case you missed it, but there were some set photos awhile back that had some fun easter eggs to the comics... it’s gonna be a lot less “Nolan-esque” than you think

The more I think about, the more Zack should've just made his own superhero with new characters. He has this very unique take on characters that would work better as new characters than as the main DC heroes.

The Boys is parody of DC and Marvel, and Zack's superhero universe would probably equally well. It's just that his vision is the main DC universe and not an Elseworlds story of a new thing that probably bothers me the most.

As for Robin, he'd probably use it in the same way as Jimmy Olsen

@bkmeijer - good analysis and I agree

I think the thing that irks me the most is that he has said it’s Dick Grayson that is dead. That has never been apart of the source material it was always Jason Todd. So you take Nightwing out of the equation automatically and leave us with no Robin ever. I’m not a Snyder absolute hater either, he does somethings that work, but he can go so far out of the source material sometimes it’s like... but why...

Ha1frican - 11/15/2020, 7:41 AM
@JohnnyIdol - While usually fall on the positive side of public perception of Zack and his movies his approach to Robin’s death is one thing I definitely didn’t vibe with. It’s not the end of the world but I was very excited at that prospect and to find out it was supposed to be Dick and not Jason is a wasted opportunity. If it was Dick the eventual rift formed between Dick and Bruce would make for great tension especially with a Batman who has become more brutally extreme.

@Ha1frican - I agree, I always wanted to see a great take on Nightwing on the big screen(well small screen atm). He literally took that away from us. And I know his plan was to bring Carrie Kelly into it, which is cool, but I feel like it’s hard to build a “bat family” without Dick in there.
