JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Jeremy Irons Looks Forward To Watching The Snyder Cut, But Hated Joss Whedon's Version

Love or hate the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League, it was infinitely better than Joss Whedon's version of the movie, and that's a sentiment Alfred Pennyworth actor Jeremy Irons most definitely agrees with.

Short of a surprise cameo in The Flash, Jeremy Irons' time as Alfred Pennyworth appears to be at an end following the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League last year. He first played Bruce Wayne's loyal butler in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and did a great job as the iconic character.

Talking to Variety, Irons was asked if he's watched the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League yet.

"Strangely, I think I have it and I haven’t seen it," the actor admitted. "I shall have to hunt it out and see if I have it somewhere online or on a DVD. I remember talking to Zack [Snyder] before he did it and being very interested to see what he came up with. It couldn’t have been worse."

The trade asked if he meant it couldn't be worse than Joss Whedon's theatrical cut of Justice League, to which he responded: "I don’t think it could have been, could it?" The interviewer acknowledged that the movie was dreadful, and Irons - never one to mince his words - said: "Well, so did I."

Clearly, he wasn't a fan of what Whedon brought to the table as Justice League's new director. Irons did appear in some of the reshot scenes, but doesn't seem to have enjoyed that experience or the finished product. He joins a growing list of actors to slate the 2017 version of the DC Comics adaptation, and it's no wonder Warner Bros. is now looking to move on from this era of the DC Extended Universe.

Ben Affleck recently called Justice League "the worst experience," and described his time working on it as "awful." That was obviously in reference to Whedon being behind the camera because the actor happily returned to shoot those extra scenes as the Dark Knight for the Snyder Cut last year.
