How Will Colin Firth Return In KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE Sequel?

In both the Kingsman: The Secret Service comic book and Matthew Vaughn's big screen adaptation, Colin Firth's Harry Hart was killed off in very definitive fashion. So, how is the character going to return in the planned sequel? Creator Mark Millar explains...

Kingsman: The Secret Service was an even bigger hit than expected earlier this year, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that a sequel is in the works. Colin Firth's death in the movie was necessary for the story and a genuinely shocking moment, but the follow-up won't be the same without him. That's why Matthew Vaughn is hoping to bring him back, but how the hell is that going to work after he was shot point blank in the head by Samuel L. Jackson's villain?! IGN put that to comic book writer Mark Millar in a recent interview, and he had this to say about the actor's possible return.

"That's the conversation everyone's having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin. Colin's fantastic, it was a two-hander, that film. You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense. That's where it is at at the moment. Beats of the story have been done. [Screenplay co-writers] Matthew [Vaughn] and Jane [Goldman] are working on it at the moment. Some things have to be worked out, some decisions have still to be made and everything, so it's all fairly amorphous, but all going well. It's funny because there's a lot of conversations like that, like should he have an evil brother, Colin with a mustache? Or is he a ghost or whatever? The guys have a plan. I can't spoil it just now because the final decision is still to be made. It'll be good."

What do you guys think about Firth making a return as Harry Hart in the follow-up? Let us know your theories on how he could be brought back from the dead in the comments section below.

Just like how there was gonna be a Wanted sequel where Angelina Jolie was going to return from the dead.

Haven't been news on that in the longest time.

Might want to put a spoiler tag on this or something? Or at least keep the mentions in the article itself? I personally had Colin Firth's death ruined for me before watching the film and it significantly lessened the blow it had in the film.

Thanks for spoiling the first movie in the teaser Josh. C'mon. You're better than that.

Not everyone has watched a movie that came out at the beginning of the year nor do they necessarily need to know this character died in both the movie and comics.

But thanks for spoiling it for the people who haven't seen it yet.

I'd LOVE a sequel to Kingsman, but don't force Colin Firth's character to come back if he doesn't have to. Eggsy doesn't even need a mentor-figure anymore, so I'm not sure it'd make much sense anyway. Firth was incredible and kicked ass...just leave well enough alone.

Was planning on watching this within the next week or two. Your title totally spoiled this death for me. Thanks.

Nice of you to spill the biggest thing possible for a movie that's not even a year old in the headline.

@Jollem - ha, thanks brother. I'm 33 minutes into it and stopped to grab a beer - so far what's not to love? I guess this counts as one of the three times..? No - I was supposed to toot three times. Dammit. Wasted it.

To anyone who got spoiled, sorry but Wilding can not be blamed(can't believe I'm saying this). This film came out early in the year, long enough for spoilers to be talked about openly without a spoiler tag. I go by the two month(movies) two week(show) rule, and this film has been out long enough to be out on DVD.

Now it would have been nice of Wilding to leave the spoiler out of the headline and teaser, but he still can't be blamed.

When @DrDoom goes to far....

Then you realize by calling him out he's going to retort with a really smart comment that you can't rebut against and so you decide to just shut up and not even come back to the thread to see what he says.

@DrDoom good troll, obvious and ruthless, yet just believable enough that some people will fall for it.

But seriously, Kingsman was better than Fury Road.

DrDoom says that Kingsman is lame yet he likes Terminator Genisys thats why his opinions are stupid.

@RextheKing

Regardless of how long ago the movie came out, Josh still didn't need to detail the character's death in the teaser of all things. Rather than outrightly say 'killed in definitive fashion, so how is the character going to return?', the teaser could have simply been something like 'As the sequel to Kingsman undergoes production, creator Marks Millar spills the beans on how Colin Firth's character could return. Read on for more...'

That could have been it. It would have left the reader wondering if Firth's character died, disappeared, left the organisation etc. It would have been speculation. Instead, with the way the teaser was written, it's pretty case closed in terms of what happened.

Ultimately, a lot of people have now been spoiled for the movie and that is down to how the teaser was written, which can be blamed on Josh I'm afraid.
