Hello friends and true believers. This is another fun editorial where I'm gonna my top 10 favorite miniseries books. Now I consider these books to be all self contained and have no affect on the mainline continuity. Now these aren't listed in the order I rank them, these are just my favorite 10. With that said, let's begin with #10.

#10. Watchmen- This was the first comic book series I read and got me into reading more comics today. The story is about the death of a retired crime fighter and it leads his colleagues down a path that takes them to a far bigger discovery. I loved all the characters in the book and I really enjoyed the movie version. While many consider this to be the greatest comic ever, I think it really changed the game in terms of characters and how impacting a comic can be.

#9. Wanted- I read this before seeing the film and I was blown away by this comic. I read this was the Watchmen of villain stories. The story is about a nobody who discovers he is next in line to be a super villain. This is one of Mark Millar's best works. Everything in the series is a tribute and a parody to both Marvel and DC characters. It was a fun, thrilling, and violent read.

#8. Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E- I just finished this comic today and I was blown away by how funny this comic was. I was laughing with every page turn. The "story" is about 5 unlikely heroes from the Marvel universe teaming up and going on a crazy action packed journey to defeat the agency they left after joining. This is my first Warren Ellis book and I would love to find other works like this.

#7. KICK-ASS - Another Mark Millar work that is another great read. The story is about an ordinary kid becoming a superhero with no powers. He discovers the hidden underbelly of being a hero for hire. I loved the story, the violence complemented the story and the ending of book 1 was great.

#6. Old Man Logan- Yet another Millar work. This a great story and an interesting take of the Wolverine character. The story is about how the USA has been taken over by the villains and Logan has given up his life as a hero. He is then reunited with an old friend and goes on a cross country journey to then the greatest showdown in his life. I really loved the way this book flowed from one event to another. It wasn't a rushed product and the character being "tame" for once was a neat twist. The last issue was amazing.

#5. 1985- Yes I know another Millar work. This book caught my eyes when I was scanning for any new readings and I'm glad I got a chance to read this. I see this as the Chronicles of Narnia of Marvel characters. The story is brilliant, the story takes place in our world and suddenly Marvel villains begin to enter our world and attack a small town, one young boy notices this and enters the world of Marvel to get help. This is where the art style comes into play. The way our world looks is dark, dreary, and messy. That is until when the main character enters into the Marvel Universe and the world is bright, colorful, and visually amazing. The ending of the book is kinda cheesy but it's not to be taken seriously anyway.

#4. Justice- I did a quick review of this awhile back so I wont go into too much detail, but I will do an abridged version. The story is about a select group of villains in the DC universe decide to do good and make the heroes seem incompetent. The reveal of the greater scheme is amazing and I didn't see it coming at first but then I got all the clues. The final fight with the armored heroes was awesome.

#3. Superman: Red Son- This is the last Millar work, I swear.lol. This was a book that really made me think how awesome Superman was. The story is about what if Superman was a communist and Lex Luthor the hero in America. I loved the way it told the story and the way everything flowed. It goes from the early days of the cold war to what seems to be modern day. The way how Luthor tries everything to defeat Superman was great and the reveal at the end was really great and one that makes ya think.

#2. Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth- This was a visually beautiful work, every panel and page was amazing. This looks like art you want to see in museums. The story is a journey tale through the Asylum made famous for its criminals and the man who made it. I read this and was intrigued and amazed at what was gonna happen next, like you are with Batman going on this.

and now for my #1 favorite comic miniseries

#1. Kingdom Come- This really made me look at comics differently. After I read the book I wanted to find others like it. The story is set in Earth 2 involving the Justice Society. We follow an old preacher man who watches from a different dimension of all the dealings of the super heroes and the growing fear of this more modern and violent groups. Everything about this comics I loved, from the minor chats to the epic battle. This is the only comic book to make me gasp at at a certain moment, and I'm sure those who read it know what I'm talking about.

There you have my my list of my favorite reads. Now there are some I missed and I'm sure ones I over looked but these are stuff I own or read somewhere. Any questions or just want to chat look me up at my YIM at [email protected]. Til next time, BlackAirs out!

@BLackAir: Nice list very Millar centric. He does produce some great work. Only thing on the list that I haven't read is 1985.

I saw that you got Warren Ellis for Nextwave, have you read Planetary? I think that is my personal favorite. Basically he just re-imagine how the supes get their powers in a more scientific manner. Imagine Fantastic Four as the main villians!
