In May, visual effects guru Rick Baker (click here) finally released images of the aliens he designed for Night Skies, which was an unmade Steven Spielberg ("Jurassic Park") film. Though, it wasn't made it still had a heavy influence on the story and creature designs of Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). If you're not familiar with the fascinating story behind Night Skies I suggest you click on the link by Rick Baker's name.

Below, is concept art that Empire recently published. These images were illustrated by Ed Verreaux with the intention of showing different versions of E.T.: The Extra - Terrestrial and the wide range of emotions the alien creature would have to perform. Ed also worked on: Empire of the Sun, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Poltergeist.
Re-live the adventure and magic in one of the most beloved motion pictures of all-time, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, from Academy Award®-winning director Steven Spielberg. Captivating audiences of all ages, this timeless story follows the unforgettable journey of a lost alien and the 10-year-old boy he befriends. Join Elliott (Henry Thomas), Gertie (Drew Barrymore) and Michael (Robert MacNaughton) as they come together to help E.T. find his way back home. Now digitally remastered with enhanced picture and sound for its 30th Anniversary, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial forever belongs in the hearts and minds of audiences everywhere.

Actors: Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore & Dee Wallace
Director: Steven Spielberg * Screenwriter: Melissa Mathison

I haven't seen it in many years, but it never appealed to me as a child. I was much more enchanted by Prehysteria...

God, I loved those shitty movies.

That's right, screw Steven Spielberg, I had a 2-foot tall Tyrannasaur named Elvis.

If E.T. was so good, where was E.T.2 and E.T.3?! Huh?!

I loved this movie ever since I was a little kid.

And as for the designs, I prefer the final product to what we got. The concept art for E.T. looks too human for my tastes.

Still, it's much better than the design for Nukie:

Am I the obly pne who find it creepy that E.T. is an old guy running around nude with a bunch of children? I mean, he land on an alien planet and the first thing he does is go streaking!? No wonder his friends tried to ditch him..

Having really delved into Night Skies, I wish it would've gotten made over E.T. Hell, I wish Nocturnal Fears would've been made, that would've made me like E.T. more (Nocturnal Fears was to be the sequel to E.T. in which E.T.'s cousins come to earth cause of his distress signal and begin [frick]ing shit up "Destroy All Humans" style).

And for those who don't know, the guy who wrote the novelization of E.T., wrote a sequel where E.T., who's real name is "Zreck" or something, is banned from Earth forever. He goes against his orders and builds a spaceship out of an onion and communicates to Elliot via telepathy and gives him dating advice (I swear I'm not making this up, do some research, I read the book in high school

ET scared the crap outta me as a child. I ain't talkin' the movie. I'm talkin' the alien. I was like 4 and I cried like I was 2 in the theater and my mom thought it was cause I was sad. No. He freaked me out, man. To this day I can't watch it.

Because they're idiots.

As for me, I only watched E.T. once. I did the same with Avatar. Once I saw it, I didn't feel the need to see it again.

@Spock0Clock I loved Prehysteria movies. They were awesome. As a kid I had an intense fascination with dinosaurs. I used to get books full of dinosaurs and memorize all of their names and features. I was crazy about them. I told my parents straight up when I was 7 that Dinosaurs were much cooler than dragons and fantasy creatures because they were real.
