Over the course of my week and working on various projects and continuing my major in college. It occurred to me that I hadn't written an editorial yet.So thinking to myself while reading Superman Earth 1 and later Batman Earth 1 respectively, at my local comic book shop,it hit me, the new year will be here before we know it and as always we fans of many beloved comic book heroes expect A LOT from the movies being made as well as other adaptations.Which is only natural because we grew up with these heroes, well some of us anyway. We were captured and entranced by their stories since we were kids and continued that love for comics into adulthood respectively. So shouldn't they be like we remember them growing up? You guys know what I'm talking about, looking at the cover art of heroes like The Uncanny X-Men, Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, Daredevil, Blue Devil, The Punisher and so on.Shouldn't they be like we've seen on daily cartoon shows?Like Iron-Man, Batman TAS, Superman TAS, The 90's Spider-Man, X-Men. Now let's begin.First up :

Richard Donner's Superman(1978)with Christopher Reeve, who many of us will always consider the original Superman, including Margot Kidder the original Lois Lane. The film was a critical success and a monumental blockbuster that still hits home today. Then early in the 80's came Superman II (1980), another huge hit.And other superhero movies were made like Swamp Thing (1982), Superman III (1983), Supergirl (1984), Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (1987), The Punisher (1989).

Then in that same year came a movie about the caped crusader. Tim Burton's Batman which starred Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. While some to this day believe that both are the best live adaptations of these characters. The movie showed us dark insane city of Gotham City and its protector as well as his devilishly psychotic nemesis ''The Joker''. This film raised the bar on the hero meter. And continues to be a cult classic. In 90's came The Rocketeer(1991), Batman Returns (1992), The Shadow (1994), later following suit was Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever, which was ok,not great. Starring Val Kilmer (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Tommy Lee Jones (Harvey Dent/Two-Face), Jim Carrey (Edward Nygma/The Riddler), Chris O'Donnell (Dick Grayson/Robin). The Phantom (1995), Marvel Comics then came into the fold with Captain America (1991)& The Fantastic Four (1994), which oddly enough never saw the light of day.

Another cult classic was made 2 years later Alex Proyas The Crow (1994) and was the first independent comics superhero film that had after the success of the first, established a franchise. In 1996 came the sequel to Schumacher's Batman Forever, the critically canned and continuous torture film that made us comic book fans want to beat the living crap out of the director,Batman & Robin and made us want to say why in the world is this happening to such a beloved icon that we grew up with? Another Image character arose a few years later Spawn (1997) was then released. Marvel followed by releasing their first franchise film, Blade (1998), which received mixed reviews. The new millennium was upon us as were more comic book movies. Which brought forth some of the most financially successful franchises in comic book history. A sleeper hit was Brian Singer's X-Men (2000), which we all know focused on Logan more then anyone else.

Later, one of the biggest blockbusters of all time came in the form of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002) including high ticket and DVD sales, several new superhero films were released every year in the 2000s, Daredevil (2003), The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), Hulk (2003), Catwoman (2004), Hellboy (2004), The Punisher (2004), Batman Begins (2005), Fantastic Four (2005), Ghost Rider (2007), Iron Man (2008), Watchmen (2009), Kick Ass (2010) and Jonah Hex (2010). Sequels and spin-offs were released throughout the decade, such as Blade II (2002), X2: X-Men United (2003), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Blade: Trinity (2004), Elektra (2005), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), Spider-Man 3 (2007), Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), Hellboy 2: The Golden Army (2008), The Dark Knight (2008), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), and finally Iron Man 2 (2010)
