LEEE, did you catch the glimpse of the Tick figure? lol

Jman, you made a very good point at the beginning of part one regarding people who talk about the stuff, but have never read it. I think we have a lot of these 'pretenders' on the site, folks who say this and that, but their limited knowledge of things makes it apparent they don't. lol, your comment just made me think of it.

Al, My left nut for that X-Men #1!!! Those books look to be in pretty good condition. I have a copy of X-Men #12, first appearance of Juggy, it's my oldest Marvel book I own and I wish it looked half as good as those other Silver Age books you have. I'm afraid to transfer it to a new bag and board for fear it might destroy it or further damage it. Have you ever thought of sending them to be graded by the CGC to further protect them? Just wondering. Do you have any of the old Creepy and Eerie books? I grab them up when I see them, just cause the covers rock, especially for that era.

LEEE, I've read all those Marvel Silver Age books, not the originals of course as they'd probably turn to dust in trying to read them lol. In the 90's Marvel did this reprinting of all those books, called Marvel Milestones I believe, and if memory serves, they actually reprinted entire first runs of all those popular characters, though how far the runs go for each book I don't remember correctly. I remember that the first X-Men/Avengers crossover was featured in one and that is X-Men #9. So I think they went a little ways into it, maybe the first 12 issues or something. I need to look it up, but they did it for FF, Spidey, Avengers, Daredevil, etc. Actually, I checked a few years back, and those Marvel Milestones reprints are actually worth a nice penny in themselves now. Between me and my pops, we have the whole collection buried in the dozens of comics boxes somewhere lol.

lol I have a bunch of Marvel Milestone books.

But I also have hundreds of Silver Age Marvel Comics. I have tons of X men, Daredevil, and Avengers. lol a lot of my stuff is in crappy condition. I buy old comics that are not that valuable because or defects. That might seem strange but that's just how I role. I buy them to read, not collect or sell.

I think Marvel's best days as a comic book publisher were during the Silver and Bronze ages. All the best stuff that happened in comics happened in the 60's 70's and 80's.

Damn, i got sh!t loads of comic books in boxes in my ol' mans shed, sh!T hope their all right lol, cool MYTH , i think only 1st apearance i got of any importance is MESTPHISTO (ok its early lol), in i think SILVER SURFER vol.1 num 3, i got num 4 too with THOR in it! Got SABRETOOTH, in IRON FIST but hardly silver age, same goes with GAMBIT, DEADPOOL, CABLE etc etc.

That's soooo cool your pop's is into this stuff, wish my ol' man was lol! All he's into is STAMPS! Maybe i should get him some MARVEL, DC ones?? ; D

Man, i have a few rare comics but nothing like that stuff. Its all in such great condition too.

Even as a kid i pretty much hated all the Hanna Barbera stuff though! And now with Harvey Birdman and Adult Swim its well and truly been parodied into submission.

The action figures were class, im a sucker for them. My room is starting to look like a 10 year old lives in it.

LEEE, yeah, for me comics was a hereditary thing lol, my dad taught me to read using Avengers and Fantastic Four, with a splash of Dr. Seuss lol. So comics are in my blood. He still has a plethora of books that he won't let me have cause he still doesn't think I'm responsible enough, lol, I'm closing in on 30 dammit!!! He has one of those bank lock boxes that he has some of the most valuable issues in, among them are Avengers #4 and Incredible Hulk #181!! I probably won't get them until he wills them to me lol.

Myth, I'm not sure I've heard of any dad like that. simply amazing. Wish I could of learned to read by comics instead of the likes of a nosy little monkey, a cat that demolishes kids houses, and a crazy elephant that cares about a spec of a world. I'm supposed to turn out normal after reading about those?! Come on teach me how to be good and fight evil and I might end up doing something with my life. You brought this on me mom and dad...

LEEE, TopherTap, and others, I didn't think it was that unusual growing up but I did see later how rare it was. But I have met people even older than my dad who've loved and adored comics forever. Mine and my father's collection is nothing compared to that of a friend of mine, a 55 year old country boy. This guy has an entire building he had built behind his house for housing his collection. lol, His house is dilapidated but this building has a security system, climate control and air purifiers lol, his home has a bolt-lock and a window a/c unit lol. His collection is by far the largest I've ever seen, and I've been in storage rooms in the back of comic shops that have a veritable library. I was lucky though to have an ole man who was a 14-year old at heart.
