Talking to MTV Splash Page at the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" last week, David Yates revealed that he has indeed passed on an adaptation of Bill Willingham's Fables, despite ongoing rumors and chatter to the contrary. Of course, this is hardly a surprise considering that he recently let slip that he'll be helming a big screen version of Doctor Who at some point in the near future, but are you disappointed by the news? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts below.

"I looked at 'Fables' about two years ago. I think it's a fascinating world, but it's a project I decided not to pursue."

Fables is a comic book series created by writer Bill Willingham, published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York. [Wikipedia]

I think Terry Gilliam would be good choice as the director of Fables.
