Live Action Star Wars TV Series Casting Call

Live Action Star Wars TV Series Casting Call

As long as this TV series keeps a serious tone and doesn't turn into a kiddie fest with Jar Jar Binks and bubble gum, we could be watching Star Wars on the little screen.

MTV.com reported earlier that George Lucas is officially Casting for the Live Action Star Wars TV series.

"A live-action TV series set in the “Star Wars” cosmos has been an elusive, tantalizing prospect for years. News of the potential production first surfaced in 2005 while George Lucas was promoting “Revenge of the Sith.” Work on the “Clones Wars” animated feature film and Cartoon Network series, though, took creative precedence. In late 2007, Lucas revealed that he and his team were about to begin writing scripts for the live-action show. Now MTV News has learned that casting for the series is currently underway."
Sweet!!!! Its been a long time running that we have heard any news regarding this project. They go on to say" According to Lucas, the show will focus on minor characters from the saga and be set in the time period between “Revenge of the Sith” (Episode III) and the original “Star Wars” (Episode IV). The action will follow the Rebel Alliance as it slowly gains strength against the Empire. There will be Stormtroopers, but no Jedi or Darth Vader will appear on screen. As he did with the “Clone Wars” series, Lucas will write and shoot an entire year’s worth of episodes before looking for a cable channel on which to air the series."

Hell yes!!! As long as George Lucas is not directing this show, it will be a hit!! Cant wait for the Video Games that will spawn off of this TV Series. As long as this TV series keeps a serious tone and doesn't turn into a kiddie fest of Jar Jar Binks and bubble gum we could be watching Star Wars on the little screen for quite a while.

My only wish is that Mr Lucas would do a computer generated movie or at least a video game adaption for the Timothy Zahn books referred to as The Thrawn Trilogy, and the Dark Empire Comics that came out in the 90's from Dark horse. Come on Mr Lucas, just because you didn't think of these two ideas doesn't mean you cant show them to the world.

no Jedi and no Vader = quick loss of interest from the casual fans that are necessary for this show to succeed. Show us the "early years" of the characters from the original trilogy. Show us Han Solo meeting Chewbacca. Their earlier meetings with Jabba the Hutt. The early wacky adventures of Boba Fett. Stuff like that would hook the casual fans and satisfy the hardcores. There aren't enough hardcore Star Wars fans to sustain a series on any but the smallest networks. Bring in the casual fans though, and you could be seeing a ratings monster. I'm more of a casual fan, but I'd love to see a well-done TV show based on the Star Wars universe.

by live action I hope thy don't mean shot entirely in a green screen studio. I have had enough of that crap. Hopefully they will show the very painful death of Jar Jar.

I usually don't give opinions and if I do I usually give an explanation for them. But in this instance I feel only 4 four words are needed:

BIG BAG O' SUCK!

on the subject of the thawn trilogy, i couldnt agree more we need these into games now.
i would like to see them made into films but obioulsy they would have recast everybody and sadly no to ways about it... it would suck. so games it has to be, those books rock. the follwing trilogy just took it all too far, so they can stay on the shelf a far as im concerned.

a new tv series, no jedi...if they did do one on bobba that would be good and at least lets see why darth get to be so curropted and hated as much he by sw4.

Those have to be some of the best stories, I got the last part of my name from Ulic. Great characters, great story.

To be honest I'm glad they wont have main characters from the movies. Star Wars is a huge universe, we don't need to stick with the same people. Sure we'd all love to see our fav characters again, myself included, but I think this is an awesome idea. It will widen the Star Wars world beyond what the average person sees. We'll see more inner workings of the Rebel Alliance, we'll see how they built up their power. We'll have new characters and see what life is like in the Star Wars universe even more so. They can make some uber cool characters without them having to be Jedi, Han Solo was probably the coolest character in Star Wars(bout the same level as Boba:P) and he wasn't a Jedi. It will be more than nice graphics and guys flipping all over the place lightsaber fighting. I would hope anyways. Maybe it'll actually have a good storyline and script like the original Star Wars. That would be a treat.

I love the concept. Seeing what happened to the "little guy" under the Empire's rule... But come on, there were tons of "minor" Jedi as well. Throw one or two in there. At least have some force sensitives. I do kinda like the idea of not ever showing Vader. Give him a more unseen evil feel.

Side note: I think Clone Wars has been an amazing series. It has been much more entertaining than the prequels IMO.

Why would anyone watch Stormtroopers. none factor for me.
Star wars with no Jedi is like baseball without bats.
I smell money in the force on this one

Yeah good idea, but set in the wrong time period of the mythos. A setting during the old republic focusing on the Jedi would draw in far more fans. Lucas as usual has a good idea but misses on the details.

I don't know baseball sucks as is, no bats might make it hella better, Also there are lots of stories to be had with the stormtroopers , one of my fav games is star wars battle front, just being a trooper is cool. Also im sure it would only grow from there and sooner or later jedi or the force would be involved.

George Lucas had kicked every Star Wars fan in the balls and took their wallets with his crappy Star Wars episodes I, II and III. Then proceeded to poke our tits with a stick with his Indiana Jones stinker. Then had the sheer audacity to try and charge people movie theater prices for the first few episodes of a retarded Clone Wars CG animation show when it was planned to be shown on TV for [frick]ing free the following month.

So as far as I'm concerned he can take all his new Star Wars ideas and shove them snugly up his ass, right beside his pool boy's wrist watch. His god-damn Star Wars gravy train is riding on bent-mother-[frick]ing tracks these days and I for one will have no part in it.

I can see why Lucas doesn't want jedi because he wants to focus on story and crap, but he could at least throw Starkiller from force unleashed into the mix! I'm sure sam witwer would be more than happy to reprise his videogame role and it'd be rather cool to see him about even if it's only a little. After all, it's thanks to him that the alliance started up, and those who haven't played the game will not know about this

Bring on EWOKS in SPACE BATTLE!!!

ill watch this but i dont get exited by those 2 words like i used to. I was a massive fan of the first trilogy and went along to the phantom plot with a big stupid grin on my face which was wiped off when i realized how unbelievably awful the movie was...attack of the clowns was a bit better and Revenge of the shit was approaching half decent but my god, how could lucas look at the dailies of those performances and say "Yep, good enough, dont need any reshoots for those scenes"

"But Mr Lucas, Hayden seems..well..a bit wooden in that scene..i mean..id venture to say hes..well..[frick]ing abysmal sir!"

"Yeah but nobody cares about the acting, the star wars fans just want to see explosions and lightsaber fights, trust me, im a billionaire!"

What a c#nt

Keep in mind, technically, if this takes place before Ep 4, then order 66 has already been initiated. The clones have killed "all" the Jedi.

But some minor Jedi did get away as we learn in the novels. I see nothing wrong with having one in there. Or at least some force sensitives.

i don't know if not having Jedi is a good idea, ppl watch star wars because of the Jedi they are the only original concept in the show if i want to watch a show based in space without Jedi then i will watch BSG or Star Trek. (I do watch BSG btw)
