LOL. I follow "Ain't It Cool News" solely because of the commentary, but I follow this site because it has, hands down, the absolute best collection of hard facts to report. Period.

You guys who run the site should stick to that. Because your commentary is, hands down, the absolute worst the internet has to offer. Period.

@ PacificOrca

yeah, there's a reason the commentary is so bad. 90% of the articles are written by users on the site, not people that actually work for the site. So you tend to get a lot of lazy people, kids, and people with horrible grammar posting articles.

Like you said, this site reports a lot of good facts and news, if you can past a lot of the users that are doing the posting.

wouldn't the avengers be the best comic book franchise?

-iron man
-the incredible hulk
-iron man 2
-thor
-captain america the first avenger
-the avengers

all of which are superior to fox's x-men franchise.

@marvel72 agreed, the MCU has the potential to become the greatest movie franchise ever, they bring in the cash and make great films, In Marvel we Trust

@ calin88

exactly, marvel has spent roughly a $1,000,000,000 on six films, that which five have grossed $2,259,656,291.

so add the avengers to it,which could easily change that figure to $3,000,000,000.

the marvel cinematic universe is gonna get bigger with each movie & the best is yet to come.

I agree with everyone. What does the opening statement really mean? Inane. No, I didn't forget the s.

@marvel72: The Marvel Cinematic universe isn't a franchise, and it probably never will be since the "spin-offs" were created first, and the "main movies" (AKA The Avengers) were created second. It's similar to how Alien and Predator are classified as two different franchises.

@ golden123

i see it slighty different that if you have a "marvel cinematic universe" if all those films are connected from the start i.e iron man - the avengers & whatever comes next isn't it just expanding that universe making it a bigger franchise.

maybe you're right,i don't know.

ok, i disagree with this list. I am sorry but the X-Men movies have sucked outside of the 2nd movie. just because it has spawned so many sequels does not equate it to actually being good.

Spider-Man was great, but tumbles because of Spider-Man 3

The Dark Knight without question right now is the top franchise of the last decade.

Can Tintin, Kick Ass and Leonidas be considered franchises when i doubt Tintin gets a sequel, Kick Ass is constantly being jerked around and getting the Sin City treatment and the leads will likely be replaced due to age before it gets off the ground. Leonidas isn't a franchise because the planned sequel isn't going to feature on him.

Best CBM franchise: Marvel Cinematic Universe

@l0rdleg0las: The Batman franchise includes such movies as "Batman & Robin" and "Batman Forever". Those films pull down the franchise even if "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" pull it up. They even each other out since TDK is normally considered the best superhero movie of all time and B&R is normally considered the worst. Also, "Batman" and "Batman Returns" are normally just considered good films although I didn't like Batman Returns.

I wrote this so I'll answer.

1. Sorry about the mistakes It's my first post, I'll try to fix them.
2. There isn't any comments on the movies coz I don't want to tell you what to think.
3. Films before 2000 weren't considered because the data isn't accurate enough.
4. I don't agree with the results either, I thought number 1 would be Batman, but well...math doesn't lie.
4. Yes, if we consider the 2 hulks, 2 ironmans, 1 thor, 1 cap movies as the Avengers Franchise it would definitely be number 1. But until the cinemas stop showing it I won't update this article.
