Top 5 BAD comic book movie decisions

The plain awful decisions by studios that have made us hate some comicbookmovies

Editorial Opinion

This article is just my opinion about some of the worst decisions in comicbook movie history although I'm sure I left off some obvious ones. BTW I have left off casting choices to do in another editorial.

5-Brian Singer Leaving X men 3 to direct Superman returns

There's no doubt that the first two x men films were brilliant, perfectly showing mutants struggle for acceptance within the world while maintaining a summer movie feel. Brian Singer decided to leave x men 3 to direct super man inadvertently ruined two superhero movies in the process. Brett Ratner was hired to direct the movie and although it wasn't terrible is just didn't live up to its predecessors in tone and style. Superman returns was the same as x men, an ok film, not bad but not good, also James Marsden was cast in superman returns thus making him unavailable for most scenes in x men and resulting in cyclop's untimely fate.

4-The story of spider-man 3

Spider-man 3 was a classic case of the director trying to please everyone. Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire both wanted the sandman, the studio and the fans wanted the venom story and he also had to wrap up the goblin saga. The result was a muddled story which people hated. Sam Raimi also had to introduce these new characters within a 2 1/2 hour time frame, the result leaves alot to be desired. although the special effects are top notch they hardly make up for the rest of the film, especially Dunst as Mary Jane.

3- Making Deadpool Baraka from mortal kombat

X men origins wolverine was clearly a film used to introduced characters that could be used in future x men movies but the only problem was that these characters had next to no screen time. Deadpool was one of them. I am a big deadpool fan, I'm not one of those people who have just recently got into deadpool through video games, no i was there in Joe Kelly's original(and the best) run on deadpool, but in X men origins (or wolverine 4) he has his mouth sown shut and blades inserted into his arms just like baraka, it was an insult that one of my favorite characters was changed into this.

2-Not releasing the daredevil's director cut in cinemas

This one is pretty obvious to anyone who has watched it and proves how incompetent movie producers are. The directors cut was better in many ways, the story fits together better and there is even an entire sub plot featuring a drug addict is removed. This version is closer to Frank Miller's perception of the character and if it was released in cinemas maybe there would of been a sequel based on born again.

1-Batman and robin

Another obvious choice. Everything about this film is wrong but it all goes back to the studio in a money making scheme. After the toned down batman forever the studio decided to release an even lighter version, but at its heart batman and robin is just a big toy commercial. There are batsnowmobile and special batsuits all used in the film to market the toyline, throw intedious dialogue and a little direction for the actors and you have batman and robin

And there we have my top 5 bad comicbook movie decisions, comments are always welcome to hear opinions and thank you for reading

The WORST decision for any comic book movie is letting Fox and Warner Bros distribute them.

Agreed, Daredevil the directors cut is one of my favorite CBM's, its reallya shame that they dident release that version in theatres.

Although I dont think the fisrt two X men films were masterpieces, actually pretty boring IMO, and I liked X3 the best, was the most exciting, after seeing the abomination of Superman Returns I wold definetly agree that puting Singer on Superman was a huge blunder.

I still don't see how anyone can like the director's cut of Daredevil.

I have to admit Singer leaving X-Men for Returns is basically why fan boys are arguing this day.

I thought Singer's X-Men movies were the best in terms of story and characters; Returns was a HUGE mistake on Singer's part! I was just thankful he came back to the X-Men franchise for First Class. Also, I still haven't seen the director's cut of Daredevil, but I hear good things. And Raimi really should have stood his ground against the producers on Spider-Man 3, or at least walked away with his dignity while he could have; I would have been fine with just Sandman and New Goblin. In fact, the Sandman story in SM3 was the best part! (even if him being Uncle Ben's killer was ridiculous...)

Thinking you could make a good movie with mass market appeal about colour-coded emotion power rings from space.

You're off regarding "X3: The Last Stand." That movie was nonsensical, overly stuffed with characters (needlessly), and, most importantly, didn't advance any of the original characters stories. There was a vain attempt to show Wolverine becoming a leader...but that's not his role. It was just awful.

5 I like the two first X-men movies but I didnt love them. There were some no brainers that we got in the first one like Patrick Stewart and having Wolverine in the movie. These movies came at a time when I was happy with just seeing my favorite charactors on screen. If I were to judge these movies by todays standards they didnt capture the feel of the x-men properly. X3 was an abomination.

4. Im thinking Sam and Tobey were wrong in this one. If you take out Sandman from the movie and give Goblin and Venom the extra screen time. They would have had the first true trilogy in comicbookmovies. & get rid of emo parkers dance scenes.

3.I still dont understand why they did this. The real Deadpool could have done everything Barakapool did with Katana, AK47 and his teleport belt. I still think he was casted well, just not written well. This imfamous script witten by the zombie guys just went to hell huh. Deadpool should be made now to parody all the CBMs comming out. If done well it can save the oversaturation.

2.The directors cut to Daredevil is better and almost makes it a GOOD movie. The problem was the corny rock n roll segments, the fight in the schoolyard with the horribly miscast Elektra, and the emotional parts fell flat to me. I suppose Ben couldnt pull off Matt to me. Favs was a good foggy tho.

1.Everything you said about this movie is on point to me. It can all be said about GL. I still really enjoy this movie tho. I watch it everytime its on tv and laugh my @$$ off.

Pretty good mistakes. Jonah Hex was another one, had potential. Steel was a big mistake as well.
