"Life cannot be contained. Life breaks free. Life... finds a way."

Two years after the original broke all kinds of box office records, the Jurassic Park franchise is back in a big way next summer with J.A. Bayona's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a blockbuster sequel that will see our beloved man-made dinosaurs face extinction once more and based on the first official trailer, it's going to be an absolutely epic fight for survival.

The trailer, which picks up several years after the last film, lays out the basic plot as Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) recruits her now ex-boyfriend Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) on what is essentially a suicide mission to return to Isla Nublar to rescue all of the dinoaur inhabitants before a volcano erupts and wipes them off the face of the planet... again. And, to make matters even more complicated, they'll also have to make sure they don't get themselves eaten. No big.

Watch the official trailer below:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

I really liked the part where Owen and Blue encounter again, I think they can be the heart of the movie, maybe.

Not a bad trailer.

I did not like that.

"life finds a way" line felt like ridiculous pandering.

@ODanil - That was the one line I DID like because it's Malcolm being the voice of sanity once again. He's right, those dinosaurs will survive, thrive and eat more people alive. On that island and off. Owen and the idiot squad should be worried about protecting humanity from those dinos, not vice versa.

@ODanil - Agreed. Sucks because I actually really enjoyed the first movie. I sort of feel like the end of the trailer gave away the end of the movie too.

Considerably less hyped now :(

If not for the fact I have young family members who love dinosaurs, I think I would be staying home for this one.

Wow. A bit underwhelming. This is the trailer that needed to be pushed back several days? Ok.

It looks better than the first one, at least...

Seeing dinosaurs on the big screen just makes me feel like a kid again. I love it.

@SonOfAGif - Haha yeah, I meant the first Jurassic World. I see how my statement would be confusing.
