JURASSIC WORLD Director Colin Trevorrow Speaks On The Downside Of Helming STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

Taking the helm of a Star Wars movie should be the opportunity of a lifetime, but in a new interview, Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow reveals one drawback that fans may not have taken into account.

Colin Trevorrow is preparing himself to take on the massive task of directing the still untitled Star Wars: Episode IX, an idea that has the director excited. However, there is one thing that comes along with helming the film that has Trevorrow a little sad - and it has nothing to do with the technical side of making the movie.

Speaking to Empire, Trevorrow revealed that he won't be able to enjoy Rian Johnson's Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi for the first time as a fan. “Unfortunately, Rian’s [Johnson] film is the first one I won’t be able to watch as an audience member," he explained. "I got that privilege with The Force Awakens. I just got to go see it with a Star Wars fan. I got to sit next to my kid and just giggle as we read the crawl because we were so excited. Rogue One was the same way. I didn’t see it in advance. That time is over now. Star Wars is no longer that experience for me. If there’s anything kind of sad about it, it’s that I don’t get to have that.”

While he's doing his prep work for Episode IX, Trevorrow has to be privy to all the plot twists, spoilers and possible new characters that could be introduced. Seeing it all come together will no doubt be very be exciting for Trevorrow, but it must also lose some of its punch not being able to go in completely spoiler free. That said, he does also state that he, “wouldn’t trade it.”

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will be release on December 15, 2017.

I actually think the new trilogy should have been directed by one director. I'm not saying JJ should have done them all but I feel that a good trilogy should have a consistent creative team behind it.

I hope they kick him off this project. He recently had a movie come out that was apparently pretty bad. And I don't want another Jurassic Meh.

@InfinitePunches - I saw that movie. It's pretty bad. It didn't make me angry like how it made a lot of other people angry, but it's not good.

One director would be good, but it seems like Disney has a working formula so that no matter who they bring in, for Marvel or Star Wars, the film is going to check the boxes and good. I think they bring in a new director for every film to keep their model fresh? For the films cosmetic purposes. But regardless of who directs it, the film will hit every point of that golden formula they have.

If DC was wise, and they probably are, they'd have a team watching every second of every Marvel to find out what that secret ingredient is, because it may seem obvious, but it's not.

Marvel, not the directors at this point, has the KFC formula, their director are franchise employees.

Star Wars sucks.

While true, I see no need for you to troll these fine Star Wars fans @blackandyellow . It just seems cruel to point it out. Hopefully your comment is deleted.
