Although she didn't specify whether it was a movie or a TV series for the Disney+ steaming service, Kathleen Kennedy recently confirmed that they are "developing something to look at" based on the classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video games.

At the time this sounded like something that was only in the very early stages of development, but it looks like the project could be a little further along than we realized.

According to Buzzfeed, a KOTOR movie is currently being written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) for Lucasfilm), and she's said to be close to finishing the script.

Set almost 4000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, Knights of the Old Republic started out as a LucasArts game released in 2003, but there have since been a plethora of spinoff novels and comic books. A live-action take is something fans have been hoping to see for many years, and it looks like they're finally going to get their wish.

So this is separate from the Benioff and Weiss films? Hmmm. Interesting. Makes sense to me though. I have a hard time believing they are only going to release a Star Wars movie every other year especially after Mary Poppins Returns and Dumbo both grossed less than Solo.

Cool, that's something I always wanted, indeed.

I'm cautious tho. Kathleen's record hasn't been very good lately.
