STAR WARS: Untitled ROGUE ONE Prequel Series For Disney+ Begins Shooting In London Next Year

In between the hype of The Mandalorian and the return of Ewan McGregor came more details about another live-action Star Wars series coming to Disney+: the untitled prequel about Rogue One's Cassian Andor.

Yesterday's Disney+ showcase featured plenty of exciting projects set in a galaxy far, far away. Fans were treated to the first trailer for The Mandalorian, a premiere date for The Clone Wars, and — perhaps most exciting of all — the announcement that Ewan McGregor will be returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new series.

But back in Novmeber 2018, another live-action series was announced for Disney+ — a Rogue One prequel series that focuses on the early life of Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). That series, which is still untitled, received a bit of attention during the panel with Diego Luna joined onstage by Alan Tudyk, the voice of K-2SO. Both characters will be returning for the upcoming series which was confirmed to begin shooting in London next year.

Unfortunately, that was about the only notable announcement for the series, which remains untitled. Although, Tudyk did have is own suggestion for a name. “Kay-Too Fast, Kay-Too Furious: A Cassian Andor Story,” he joked.

The upcoming prequel series is described as a "rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,”
Luna said back when the series was first announced. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

The Rogue One live-action prequel series still doesn't have a release date, but there will be plenty of Star Wars content hitting Disney+ over the next year. Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian kicks things off with its premiere on Disney+ on November 12.

All these big budget shows for $12.99 a month? I don't see Disney keeping that price point for long.

A prequel for the prequel...

A spy thriller set in the world of Star Wars? Just take all my money. I really hope Enfys Nest, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma all appear in this show.

A prequel to Rogue One?

Rogue One was a really good Star Wars film. It was well-scripted, tense, had characters we cared about, was free of tiresome virtue-signaling, and it honored the original trilogy perfectly ... the polar-opposite of TLJ. If this prequel series, the Mandalorian and Obi-Wan contain the same elements that made Rogue One so good, many, many fans will come back and embrace Star Wars again.

They should make a prequel to The Star Wars Holiday Special.

It really seems like they're turning Star Wars around. Finally. We'll see what happens with Episode 9.

Yes sir.

It’s been a pleasant surprise to see R1 grow in stature and legacy since it’s release. Not the BEST SW film? But light years ahead of any other Disney STar Wars product.

It’s tragic finality just rings so true that you can’t help but returning to the story in similar ways that previous generations kept returning to films such as Magnificent Seven, The Wild Bunch, The Dirty Dozen.

Maybe one day we will see the original vision as well.

If the show is focused on showing the grey area of the Rebellion then I'm in, it helps that I enjoyed their characters in R1.

Why the hell do prequels for characters we know who already died? SW is ridiculously stupid.

Goddamn, Disney will really milk every cow they put their hands on, right? After the lame "live-action remake of all our classics" shit, the 3 Marvel films a year (!!!!), and two or three TV shows a year (!!!) and the Three Star Wars trilogies as well as the standalone films, they'll release a tv series that is a prequel to a prequel of the Star Wars franchise. [frick] me, this is getting too ridiculous.

@TheDoctor1225

kinda predictable that the british guy with sword fighting experience was cast as...a british guy with sword fighting experience. nonetheless, interesting that he's in Eternals.

This show is the primary reason I will be paying for the new Disney Service. The rest of the stuff is great, I am excited, but just give me more Cassian.
