The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 was victorious with $55M on Friday (includes Thurday's $17M) at the North American box office. That is the largest opening day for any 2014 film. Though, it is 22 percent lower than The Hunger Games: Catching Fire's $70.95M opening day and 17 percent lower than the $67.26M opening day 2012's The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 received an 'A-' Cinemascore from audiences.

No idea what the appeal of 'Dumb and Dumber to' is, but otherwise this looks about as it could be expected.

Mockingjay was my favorite of the 3 so far, yeah it was slower paced but I was hooked throughout the whole movie and it's set up for an incredible finale! I can't wait for part 2

I hope it beats Transformers 4. You can't let Michael Bay win 2014.

Amost every site had predictions around 150 million.
Boxoffice mojo expected it to do less than the previous 2 but even they thought it would made 145+, the "Part 1" effect was big with this one

I saw it yesterday. It was a bit disappointing. I felt like that in these two hours I saw nothing... I barely got to know the new characters, someone who hasn't read the books wouldn't even remember their names now.

The Hanging Tree was a cool song though.

Mockingjay was the worst book to split in 2 movies, it is already the worst book of the series.
The movie feels incomplete

lubedup- saw it yesterday it had almost no action but there was loads of tension that made it enjoyable. i feel like it's one of those films that would be enjoyable the 1st time but boreing the 2nd. hopefully part 2 will deliver on all the action.

Usually the "make two movies out of one" approach ends with me not watching either part on the big screen.

Every "PART 1" films will have their flaws but they manages to deliver it well. I wouldn't call this a bad movie it was good movie flawless adaptation of the third book, now "PART 2" yeah that's when the stories really picks up, the part 2 of this film will blow you away, no pun intended.
