Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, fan favorite director Guillermo del Toro talks about developing a sequel to his next film, the highly anticipated Pacific Rim. He says that Legendary CEO Thomas Tull asked him to write a follow-up immediately after the first screening of the giant monsters vs. giant robots epic, and that "entire angles and ideas" that were cut from the first movie's script may be included in the sequel. Del Toro also discusses where he would take another Pacific Rim film, saying that it will likely explore the Kaiju monsters further and their "antiverse". "[With the old Godzilla movies] it was Godzilla versus so-and-so, and that was all you needed to know It was like a wrestling match. They [Kaiju] are a race of blind consumers grabbing planets, consuming them, and moving to the next. The idea [with the sequel] is to explore a little bit of that. I won’t spoil it, but I don’t think we’ll repeat a single beat from the first movie." While Del Toro is co-writing the sequel with Travis Beachman, he isn't guaranteed to return to the director's chair. "It will take us a while to develop. I don’t think the screenplay will come out so quick. It took us a year and a half to do this script, and It’ll take us at least two years to develop the other script." In other Pacific Rim news, the official Facebook page posted the following television spot that includes even more awesome footage from the film.

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman. The film is set to hit theaters July 12th.

@indigobolt956: Dude, you gotta check out Star Trek into Darkness. It is a very good action movie to kick off the summer. IM3 is okay. Like many fanboys/fangirls, I did not like the twist and the action was alright. However, Star Trek is a must see.

As for Pacific Rim, it does look great so far.

am i the only one who is not a fan of 2 people doing the same moveements at the same time to control the robot? kinda weird and not really needed. I understand there needs to be extra pilots in case the pilot gets hurt and your whole robot goes down, but 2 at once?

Gets me excited for Godzilla next year. But if they do get a sequel (cause who knows how many people will actually see this) we won't get it till 2017 at least. Longer if Del Toro does Justice League Dark first.

The two pilots are needed to control the whole Jager, one controls the left and one the right, and aparently it will be shown what happens when a single pilot uses a Jager.

Anyway this film will be [frick]ing awesome, giant monsters and robots beating the shit out of one another is always great.
